05/10/2026: Sunday worship at The Federated Church of Orleans on the Sixth Sunday of Easter – see like below. In his message titled “Not Left Orphaned,” based on John 14:15-21. This morning we sat with the disciples on the night before Jesus’ death and heard his tender promise: “I will not leave you orphaned.” It is a promise spoken into fear – the fear of being left alone, the fear of change, the fear of not knowing what comes next. Jesus assures them that the Spirit, the Advocate, will walk beside them and within them, continuing his presence even when he is no longer seen. As our congregation enters a sabbatical season, we are reminded that the “meantime” is not empty space but sacred space – a time when the Spirit forms us in love, steadies us in hope, and strengthens the simple practices that keep a church alive: noticing, encouraging, inviting, and being present. We are not alone in this season or any season. The Spirit abides…

We welcome the Nauset Ringers to worship this morning.

05/03/2026: Sunday worship at The Federated Church of Orleans on the Fifth Sunday of Easter – see like below. In his message titled “The Presence That Guides Us,” based on Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16; 1 Peter 2:2-10; and John 14:1-14. This morning we explored what is means to walk the parts of life that feel less like open dunes and more like shaded forest trails – the seasons when the way ahead bends out of sight and we have only enough light for the next step. Drawing on Jesus’ promise in John 14 and Barbara Brown Taylor’s reminder that “the treasure we seek requires no lengthy expedition…. All we lack is the willingness to imagine that we already have everything we need,” we reflected on the quiet, steady presence that guides us when clarity is scarce. Taylor’s words echo: “The only thing missing is our consent to be where we are.” And so, we walk. We trust. We take the next faithful step. We receive what we need for the journey…

04/26/2026: Sunday worship at The Federated Church of Orleans on the Fourth Sunday of Easter – see like below. In his message titled “Life Abundant, Even Now!,” based on Psalm 23, Acts 2:42-47, and John 10:1-10, Rev. Darren Morgan invited us to see our own faith journey in the familiar dune paths of the Cape – those winding trails that curve, dip, and sometimes disappear before opening again just a few steps ahead. In scriptures that speak to small, faithful communities and a Shepherd who goes ahead of us, we were reminded that abundance is not something we manufacture but something we receive. As Walter Brueggemann writes, “God’s abundance is a gift before it is a possibility.” Life abundant shows up in presence, in devotion, in glad and generous hearts, and in the quiet trust that the next step will appear beneath our feet…

04/19/2026: Sunday worship at The Federated Church of Orleans on the Third Sunday of Easter – see like below. What happens when the road ahead feels unfamiliar – and even Christ seems hard to recognize? In his message, “Hearts Rekindled for the Road Ahead,” which is based on Luke 24:13-35, Rev. Darren Morgan weaves a moving story of three generations in law enforcement with the haunting beauty of the Road to Emmaus, reminding us that resurrection often arrives disguised as change. This sermon speaks tenderly to seasons of grief, transition, and uncertainty, offering hope not through doing more, but through noticing more – God’s quiet, faithful presence walking beside us. If you have ever wondered whether the familiar map still applies, or sensed that God might be inviting us onto a new road, this message will warm your heart and rekindle your hope…
