Susan Polascik Babey, age 91, of Trumbull, the beloved wife of the late Michael D. Babey, was called peacefully to The Lord on April 30, 2026 in Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull.
Sue was born on May 21, 1934 in Kyjov, Czechoslovakia to the late Michael and Anna Polascik. She came to America in 1935 and lived in Bridgeport, CT until 1952, when her family moved to Monroe, CT. She was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, Class of 1952. She married her husband Michael in 1955 and lived in the home he built in Trumbull, CT for more than 70 years. Sue was employed as a valued and trusted bookkeeper for decades with various CPA firms, the Better Business Bureau, and Fleet Bank.
Sue was a lifelong member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, raising her children in the Faith of Our Lord, and serving the Church in volunteer and fundraising activities for many years. She read Scripture and prayed daily. One of our most recent and fondest memories is of her joyously affirming, “Voistinu Voskrese!” to the declaration, “Christos Voskrese!” at this past month’s celebration of Great and Holy Pascha. She always embraced and embodied her faith with such grace. Her beautiful smile, bright blue eyes, and warm personality brought her a lifetime of friends.
Survivors include her devoted children, Michael A. Babey, Sharon Esares and her husband Eugene, her loving grandchildren, Kristin Dwyer and her husband Daniel, Nicholas and Stephen Esares, two cherished great-grandsons, Maximos and Theophilos Dwyer, her nieces Diane Petzold and Gail Hlavaty, and nephews George and Greg Babey. In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was predeceased by her beloved sister Anna Polascik Nosevich, who was also her best friend.
Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη - May her memory be eternal.
