St. James Church, Oneonta A Christian community called to worship together and to spread the Gospel. Our mission is to foster r No income requirements.

Our mission is to foster reconciliation and unity with God in Christ by serving humanity, loving and nurturing one another, sharing our personal relationship with God. We host a free meal ministry Monday thru Friday at The Lord's Table (entrance on Elm Street) from 4:30 pm to 6 pm year round. All are welcome for a free, healthy,
and tasty meal in a pleasant, respectful dining hall. Loaves & Fishe

s Food Pantry is open Monday thru Friday 9 am - Noon. No income requirements, all are welcome. We work in cooperation with the food pantries of Oneonta, St. Mary's Catholic Church (Walnut Street) and the Salvation Army (River Street).

Hi folks! There's a lot going on at St. James! Here are some reminders:

Tomorrow we will celebrate Sherm Whitney's 97th birthday and Baptismal renewal.

The Oneonta VFW will be here again collecting donations for their "Buddy Poppies." Get yours before Memorial Day!

We are still collecting items for Fr. Ivan's welcome basket.

Please come to the Rectory to welcome Fr. Ivan and help move boxes, etc.

Monday, May 18th is Vestry at 6pm.

The St. James Episcopal Church of 305 Main Street, Oneonta announces that Father Ivan Ruiz-Swartz has been called as the next Rector of the church. Father Ivan (pronounced ee-vAAn) holds a Diploma in Anglican Studies from the University of the South (Sewanee) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. He now joins the Diocese of Albany, having previously served the Diocese of the Susquehanna, as Associate Rector at Saint John’s Parish Western Run in Reisterstown, Maryland.
“I am truly excited to see what God has in store for the people of St. James as we work together to build up the Kingdom of God in the beautiful city of Oneonta and beyond,” says Ruiz-Swartz.
St. James will offer the departing Eucharistic service of it’s Interim Priest in Charge, Father Paul Hamilton, on May 31st at 10am. Following the service, a reception of appreciation for his two years of service will be held from 11:30- 1:30 in the Great Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Father Ivan begins his office at the church on June 1st, with regular services resuming the following Sunday at 10 am. The formal installation and Celebration of New Ministry will be held at a future date as yet to be determined.
