Saint Innocent of Alaska Orthodox Mission

Saint Innocent of Alaska Orthodox Mission We are an Orthodox Christian parish of the Orthodox Church in America located in picturesque Oneonta

Located in the northern Catskills region of New York state, in the picturesque town of Oneonta, New York, Saint Innocent of Alaska Orthodox Mission Church is under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Michael of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey. The Mission functions as a fully equipped Eastern Orthodox Church and ministers to the people from the Oneonta/Coopeistown area. The mission’s

services are attended by Orthodox faithful, catechumens (those preparing to become Orthodox Christians) and those of other Christian confessions in their search for a home in Christ's Holy Church. All are welcome to attend our services and we invite everyone to come and experience the worship of the ancient Christian Church.

Incredible conversation with Noah Mueller here from Orthodox Volunteer Corps speaking to our young adults about this great opportunity to serve and volunteer for a year with other young adults who are Orthodox in one community. Many have spoken highly and been truly transformed after taking part in this ministry.

Although Giving Tuesday is over, we ask your prayers and continual support of our mission as it grows mightily in this beautiful part of Upstate New York.

We are looking to find the right building to move into, and prepare the way for more families to come and worship with us. We, too are looking forward to making sure our church, community, clergy, those in need can come to Christ and his body and be filled up.

“We are at least as clumsy and unfaithful as the disciples of old, even though we are in much better position than they. They had heard the Christ say that he would be crucified, but we know that his Crucifixion is the salvation of the world. Christ had assured them that he would rise, but we have their witness and testimony that he is risen and lives and reigns forevermore…Despite our great advantages, however, our behavior is, at best, no different than theirs. We know that our crosses, if we bear them faithfully, will lead to resurrection, but so often we run away from the Cross in our lives.”
(Metropolitan Tikhon of the OCA, ‘Reflections in Christ’)

Our Oneonta OCF( Orthodox College Fellowshiship) is alive and well. Our OCF and others were Volunteering at Zoe For Life Southern Tier's Open House, operating next door to Dormition of the Theotokos in Binghamton. They are a local pro-life resource center who was giving away many coats, jackets and other needed supplies for winter. We have many more events and gatherings to come, please if you would like to join if you're in college and in the area let us know. Keep them all in your prayer as the do the Lord's work.
