Heartland Hope Mission

Heartland Hope Mission Our mission is to be more than a pantry by providing clients with resources to be food secure and self-sufficient in a hope-filled environment.

Heartland Hope Mission is a faith-based 501(c)3 charitable organization founded to help the working poor by providing them with some of life's most basic staples. Our mission is to provide food, clothing and promote self-sufficiency for people in need. Heartland Hope Mission provides a week’s supply of food, clothing, hygiene items, SNAP assistance, community referrals, job resources, and financia

l classes. Because Heartland Hope Mission is a faith based organization, we also offer an encouraging word and prayer. When a family is trying to make a decision between food and an electric bill or rent, they are often unable to think past their current situation. Heartland Hope Mission provides food, hygiene items and clothing to help alleviate these immediate pressures. By doing so, we give hope, allowing these families to consider options that will improve their long-term condition. We also meet with our clients one-on-one to help connect them to the resources they need to become self-sufficient. Heartland Hope Mission does not discriminate based on: race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or for prior civil rights activity. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. Our indoor waiting area is open prior to our start time. We serve our clients on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to participate in an encouraging word and prayer can attend if they wish, while those not wishing to attend are welcome to wait in a separate area. We treat all our clients with equal respect and kindness.

No school should never mean no breakfast or lunch.

For many children in our community, summer break brings more than time away from the classroom — it brings the fear of missing reliable meals. When school cafeterias close, access to breakfast and lunch becomes harder for families already facing food insecurity.

At Heartland Hope Mission, we see these children not as statistics, but as our neighbors, our future, and families who deserve hope.

With nearly 1 in 5 children in Nebraska facing food insecurity, the need is urgent — but together, we can make a difference.
Your generosity can help provide food, stability, and hope to children and families this summer.

Give today and help ensure no child goes hungry. 💙

Summer should be filled with joy, laughter, and memories — not the worry of where the next meal will come from. 💙☀️

Through our Summer Feeding Program, families across our community are receiving food, hope, and support while school is out. Every photo tells a story of lives being impacted because compassionate people chose to care.

For many children, summer can mean the loss of consistent school meals. But together, we can help make sure families have the nourishment they need during this season.

Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and supporter helping bring hope to the table this summer. 🥫✨

💚 Our warehouse is full—and that means more families are being served than ever before.

As the need in our community continues to grow, so have all of our programs. From our pantry and clothing program to our New and Expecting Parents Program and Summer Feeding Program, more families are turning to Heartland Hope Mission for support each day. While we work to create more space and increase our capacity, the need for food continues—especially as children are home from school for the summer and many families lose access to regular school meals.

Each week, more neighbors are walking through our doors seeking food, clothing, and support. Every shelf and pallet is being used to meet real needs across our community—and the demand continues to grow.

📦 Warehouse Expansion
We’re reorganizing and expanding our space so we can serve more families with excellence, efficiency, and dignity.

🚜 With our new forklift
With our new forklift, we’ll be able to safely install additional pallet racking—creating space for approximately 197 more pallets. That means more food, more essentials, and more families supported.

🅿️ New Parking Lot
After increased semi traffic from the 2024 tornadoes and ongoing water damage, our parking lot needs critical repairs. A safe and welcoming space is essential for every family who visits our campus.

This is what growth looks like.
More neighbors served. More impact happening every day. More hope in action.

🙏 Help us “make room for HOPE.”

This summer, our South Omaha Pantry volunteers are helping us provide more than food — they’re providing hope. 💙

Through our Summer Feeding Program, families in our community can continue receiving nutritious meals and support while school is out. For many children, school meals are a daily source of food, and our volunteers are helping fill that gap during the summer months.
From stocking shelves and packing food to serving families with compassion, every volunteer is making a life-changing impact.

Because of their dedication, families are reminded that they are seen, supported, and not alone.
Thank you to our incredible volunteers for helping us bring hope to the heart of our community this summer. ☀️🥫

💚 It takes a community coming together to bring hope to families in need.

For many years, Presbyterian Church of the Cross has faithfully partnered with Heartland Hope Mission to help serve our neighbors with food, essentials, and encouragement. From hosting church drives and collecting needed items to supporting our holiday programs and special events, their generosity has made a lasting impact on countless families.

In this special interview, John Bennett shares why this partnership matters and how Heartland Hope Mission is about so much more than a pantry—it’s about restoring hope, dignity, and stability for families facing difficult seasons. ✨

We are so grateful for partners like Presbyterian of the Cross who continue to stand beside us in our mission to serve the working poor and walk alongside families with compassion and hope.

Together, we are changing lives.
