All: Holy God, we confess that we do not always live as people filled with your Spirit. We have grown comfortable with division, slow to listen, reluctant to serve, and hesitant to love beyond what feels safe or familiar. Too often we keep your grace to ourselves instead of sharing it freely with the world you love. Forgive us for the ways we resist your movement among us. Renew us again with your Spirit, that we may become people of compassion, courage, generosity, and peace. Through Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

We Respond to God’s Word

Affirmation of Faith: (from A Brief Statement of Faith)
All: We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith,
sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor,
and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church.
The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles
rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture,
engages us through the Word proclaimed,
claims us in the waters of baptism,
feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation,
and calls women and men to all ministries of the Church. Amen.
