Happy Pride Month! 🌈

As ordained ministers in Community of Christ we want you to hear something that we believe with our whole hearts:

You are beloved.

Not because you've got everything figured out.
Not because you fit someone else's expectations.

You are beloved simply because you are a beloved child of God.

This Pride Month, and every month, we celebrate the beauty, diversity, courage, and gifts of LGBTQ+ people in our communities and in our lives. We're also holding space for those who may be carrying wounds from religious experiences that made them feel unseen, unwelcome, or unworthy.

If that's part of your story, we want you to know that there are Christians who affirm your worth, honor your journey, and believe that God's love is bigger than fear, shame, or exclusion.

Whether you're deeply rooted in faith, questioning everything, somewhere in between, or not sure what you believe at all, we're here for you.

Today we celebrated the ordination of Laura Pennock, one of our Seeker Invitation Ministers, to the office of Elder. Laura embodies courage, compassion, creativity, and curiosity. As she steps into this priesthood office we know that we will be blessed as she shares her ministry of shepherding like Jesus. So thankful for you, Laura, and your sacred yes!

Yesterday, we had the joy of sharing lunch and meaningful conversation with Presidents of Seventy Karen and Joelle as they passed through on their way to Independence.

Together, we reflected on what it means to truly live Christ’s mission beyond the walls of the church by seeking justice, walking humbly, and making space for others.

The work of Jesus doesn’t only happen in sanctuaries or during worship. It happens in everyday conversations, community relationships, acts of compassion, and courageous efforts to build a more just and peaceful world.

We’re grateful for the wisdom, encouragement, and shared commitment to a gospel that moves beyond the box of congregational life and into the world around us.

Christ’s mission is lived wherever we choose love, justice, and inclusion.
