Jesus was once asked what the greatest commandment was.

His answer? Love God.

And the second was right there with it: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Love God. Love people.

Be kind. Include others. Stand up for people. Make room. Choose compassion.

It doesn't have to be much more complicated than that. โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒˆ Come for Pride. Stay for the unexpected Emma Smith lore.

If you've visited one of our booths before, you may have met one of our most popular team members: life-size cardboard Emma Smith.

And yes, she has a story.

After Joseph Smith's death, Emma didn't go west with Brigham Young. She remained in Nauvoo and eventually became part of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the church led by her son, Joseph Smith III, that today is known as Community of Christ.

Emma's story is complicated, fascinating, and full of resilience. She was an active participant in the early Restoration, served as a scribe during part of the Book of Mormon translation, compiled the first Latter Day Saint hymnal, led the Nauvoo Relief Society, opposed polygamy, and ultimately followed a path that looked very different from the one many Latter-day Saints know.

So if you've ever wondered, "Wait...what happened to Emma?" or "How exactly is Community of Christ connected to all of this?" ... come find us at Logan Pride!

You can take a picture with Emma, ask us your weird church-history questions, learn about Community of Christ, grab some of our slightly snarky stickers, or just say hi. No proselytizing pressure. We promise cardboard Emma won't judge you either.โค๏ธ

Today we talked about being present in our lives and the importance of being able to listen to our own heart. Itโ€™s so easy to just go through the motions, to tune out. And taking time to be still within ourselves and open our eyes and ears is a skill we can practice. Learning to listen to yourself and trust yourself is something we can learn to do. Itโ€™s an important component of our spiritual healing journey.

Today we celebrated the ordination of Laura Pennock, one of our Seeker Invitation Ministers, to the office of Elder. Laura embodies courage, compassion, creativity, and curiosity. As she steps into this priesthood office we know that we will be blessed as she shares her ministry of shepherding like Jesus. So thankful for you, Laura, and your sacred yes!
