Church Plant Update!

☀️ God has been moving in big ways as we lay the groundwork for the Fort Lee church plant. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to over the past few months, from serving together to building community. So grateful for everyone who’s been part of the journey so far! 🙏 ✨️

You have the order backwards, and that is why you are still hiding. You are waiting until you have cleaned yourself up enough that the confession will be survivable, which means you are treating honesty as the payment that buys your safety, and every month you delay the record gets heavier and the price goes up. But the verdict on you was settled at the cross before you ever opened your mouth, so confession is not what purchases your safety, it is the report of a safety you already have. Jesus does not argue you are innocent; he says you are guilty and paid for, and it would be unjust of God to charge you twice. So stop trying to earn the right to be honest, and this week tell one person the true version, not the softened one.

Join us for a new sermon series entitled 'Guard and Contend,' which we will be in from August through the end of November. In our last sermon series 'Unshaken Faith,' we addressed questions, doubts, and opposition from inside the church itself. But in this sermon series, we will address the opposition from outside the church, including the different enemies of the faith, teachings, and philosophies that are contrary to the gospel. As we progress through the letters of 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude, we will be called to stand for the faith that we have in our Lord Jesus Christ, and discover how the love of God keeps us in His truth.

Nobody is dragged there kicking and screaming. God just stops getting in the way. Right now he’s blocking you, slowing you down, making you uncomfortable, sending people to bother you about it. That’s mercy. But if you spend your whole life saying no, one day he says fine. Your will be done. And you get exactly what you asked for, forever. That’s the scary part. Not that you lost what you wanted. That you got it. So look at what you actually want. Not what you say. What you’d choose if nobody was watching. If it’s not God, don’t try harder. Just tell him. Say I don’t want you and I need that to change. He’s never turned that one down.

Team unity (exemplify Christ’s love toward one another and serve with humility, joy, and excitement)

Safe travels, good health (pray against malaria), and spiritual protection (team to remain rooted in Him)

Most people who walk away do not leave over manuscripts or carbon dating. They leave because someone who carried a Bible hurt them, and somewhere in the hurt they quietly concluded the book must be as unreliable as the person. But trace the wound. The pastor who wounded you did it by refusing the holiness the book commanded. The leader who used you did it by ignoring the sacrificial love the book requires. Every blessing you ever received from an imperfect person came where they happened to obey it, and every wound came where they defied it. That is not a case against the Word. It is the Word’s own diagnosis of the human heart, playing out in front of you. So stop letting the people who disobeyed Scripture be your reason for distrusting Scripture. Open the book they broke and let it hold you the way it was holding them in every part of them worth emulating.
