Day 1: Can I Trust Him?

Reading: Revelation 1:4-8; John 18:33-38; 1 Timothy 6:11-16

Devotional:

We live in a world where truth shifts with the headlines. Promises are made and quietly abandoned. Institutions that once seemed solid have proven fragile. Into this uncertainty, Revelation 1:5 plants a firm declaration: Jesus Christ is the faithful witness. He testified to the truth before Pilate, even when it cost him everything. He never walked back a word. He never softened a hard truth to make himself more acceptable. His word stands, not because circumstances cooperate with it, but because he himself is unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 assures us that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Where in your life have you been tempted to trust something more immediate and visible than the word of Christ? Bring that area before him today and ask him to deepen your confidence in his faithfulness.

Reflection Question: Think back over the past year. Where have you seen God prove himself faithful, even when you doubted he would come through?

Day 3: Slaves No More

Reading: John 8:34-36 and Romans 6:16-18

Devotional: Sin is a patient and deceptive master. It rarely announces itself as bo***ge. It often presents itself as freedom, as pleasure, as relief. But the further we go into sin, the more entangled we become, much like trying to unravel a knotted string only to pull it tighter. Jesus declared plainly that whoever commits sin is a slave to sin. But he did not stop there. He declared that if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. That freedom is not merely positional. It is practical. It changes how you live, what you pursue, and who you are becoming day by day.

Day 2: The Proof Is in the Living

Reading: Matthew 19:16-22

Devotional: The rich young ruler had done everything right on the outside. He kept the commandments, honored his elders, and came to Jesus with a sincere question. Yet when Jesus pressed him toward the one thing that would reveal the true condition of his heart, he walked away sad. His wealth was not the problem. His love for his wealth over God was. Jesus does not simply want our moral performance. He wants our whole heart. Whatever we love more than him becomes the very thing that keeps us from the freedom he offers. Nothing we possess is worth more than full surrender to Christ.

Day 1: More Than Words

Reading: John 8:30-32

Devotional: It is one thing to say you believe. It is another thing entirely to live like you do. Jesus spoke to a crowd that had just confessed faith in him, yet he immediately challenged them to go deeper. Confessed belief is a starting point, not a destination. The word "abide" means to remain, to dwell, to stay. True discipleship is not a moment of decision alone but a lifetime of remaining in the words of Christ. Ask yourself today: does my daily life reflect what my mouth confesses on Sunday?

Day 5: Preach It, Live It, Repeat It
Reading: 2 Peter 1:12-15; Romans 10:14-15; Matthew 28:19-20

Devotional:

As long as God gives Pastor Schad a stage and a microphone, he will preach Jesus. That kind of resolve is not reserved for those who stand behind pulpits. It belongs to every believer who has been rescued by grace. The sermon also issued a challenge that cuts to the heart of Christian living: too many people are willing to preach the gospel but unwilling to live it. Yet if we live the gospel, we are preaching it. Peter declared in his second letter that he would not be negligent in reminding his readers of the truth, even though they already knew it. There is wisdom in that posture. We forget. We drift. We get distracted by minor disagreements and personal preferences while the major things, the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and the call to make disciples, wait quietly on the sideline. The Great Commission is not a suggestion for the spiritually gifted. It is the standing order for every follower of Jesus. Today, recommit to living the gospel in your home, your workplace, and your community. Be diligent in reminding yourself and others of what Christ has done.

Day 4: The Cross Reveals Everything
Reading: John 8:28-30; 1 Corinthians 1:18; Isaiah 53:3-6

Devotional:

Jesus told the Pharisees that when they lifted up the Son of Man, they would know that He is who He claimed to be. There is a stunning irony in this statement. The very act His enemies intended as His destruction became the moment of His greatest revelation and glory. The cross was not a defeat. It was the clearest declaration in all of human history of who Jesus is and what He came to do. The sermon reflected on this beautifully, reminding us that our God is not still on the cross. He rose. He conquered the grave. The cross is not an object of worship but a window through which we see the full weight of His love and the full scope of our rescue. It is how we know. It is the anchor of our faith. Isaiah 53 painted the portrait of a suffering servant centuries before the cross, and every brushstroke found its fulfillment in Christ. Today, do not let the cross become so familiar that it loses its power over your heart. Stand before it again with fresh eyes and let it tell you once more who He is and how deeply He loves you.
