💜 INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY

Today, August 31, we join people around the world in remembering those whose lives have been lost to overdose and praying for the families and friends carrying that grief.

Behind every statistic is a person.

A son. A daughter. A parent. A spouse. A sibling. A friend. Someone’s Forever Family.

Every life matters. Every loss counts. 💜

Celebrate Recovery is committed to being part of the solution. Our Opioid Ministry Team, led by Opioid Director Nick Olson, works to increase awareness, education, prevention, and resources surrounding opioid addiction and overdose.

Through the Opioid Advocates, we’re helping communities understand that recovery is possible and lives can be saved.

Carry naloxone/Narcan when appropriate. Learn the signs of an overdose. Have the difficult conversations. Help remove the stigma that keeps people from reaching out for help.

And remind someone today:

Your life has value.
Your story isn't over.
There is hope. ❤️‍🩹

📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 NIV

🙏 Jesus, we remember every life lost to overdose and pray for every family carrying that grief. Protect those still struggling and give them courage to reach for help. Help us respond with compassion instead of judgment and use us to bring hope to those who need it most. Amen.

💜 EVERY LIFE MATTERS. EVERY LOSS COUNTS. RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE.

Did you know OVER-COMMITTING can be a hang-up?

Sometimes staying busy looks like being responsible, helpful, or even serving others.

But sometimes we say YES to everything because we’re afraid of disappointing people.

We fill every empty space.
We take responsibility for things that aren’t ours.
We keep pouring when we’re already empty.
And eventually… resentment, exhaustion, and burnout show up.

Recovery teaches us that “no” can be a healthy word.

Setting boundaries doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you’re learning that you don’t have to earn your worth by constantly doing for everyone else.

Jesus didn’t call us to be everything to everybody.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I serving from a healthy place… or am I afraid of what people will think if I say no?

That might be something worth bringing into the light. ❤️

You can’t change yesterday, but you can choose not to let it steal today.

The past can hold painful memories, regrets, wounds, and choices we wish we could redo. But yesterday was never meant to have the power to define today.

In Celebrate Recovery, we learn that healing begins when we bring our hurts, hang-ups, and habits to God and allow Him to restore what has been broken.

You may not be able to rewrite your story, but with God’s help, you can begin a new chapter.

Today is a gift.
Today is a place where grace meets you.
Today is a place where healing can begin.

Don’t let yesterday keep stealing the freedom God is offering you today.
