Trinity Church was honored to welcome the French Ambassador to the United States, M. Laurent Bili, as part of the French in Newport Living History event presented by the Newport Historical Society. The wreath laying in our churchyard was with the American Society of Le Souvenir Francais and accompanied by a French military band. The French played a game-changing role in the Revolutionary War, with Admiral Charles de Ternay and others buried at Trinity. As we look back over our 300 year history, let us recognize our friends and allies and seek to embody that spirit in our actions today. Newport Historical Society
