This weekend we said farewell to Deacon Anton and Mia Siochi as they departed for the Chicago area to be with family in their retirement. It was a very sad goodbye - they have been a calm and powerful presence in the life of this community as they lived their vocation to marriage and the diaconal role of service so well. Deacon Anton preached at all of the English Masses and parishioners had a chance to greet him after - with a small reception after the 10am Mass. May the Lord continue to bless Deacon Anton and Mia in their new home and new parish, and we look forward to their coming back OLMC once in a while to visit us.

Over the weekend we were blessed to have more than 100 women join us for two days of spiritual guidance, reflection, and fellowship. It was such a blessing to welcome Sister Gabriella, O.P., one of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, to our parish for our women’s retreat on hope inspired by the writings of St Catherine of Siena.
On Friday evening, Sister spoke to us about Hoping in God, and we ended the evening with adoration at which Father Dan presided and our Dominican Sisters led music. Father Dan said, “it was a beautiful time to hear a Church full of women singing hymns of praise together.”
We began on Saturday morning with Mass with Father Saúl. That day included 3 more talks from Sister Gabriella and four breakout sessions after lunch.
We are so very grateful for Sister and for the retreat team who worked for months to make this a great opportunity to gather together to learn and grow.
