This Memorial Day weekend and Pentecost Sunday arrive together in a powerful and complicated way.

One remembers the cost of war, sacrifice, and lives given in service. The other remembers the Spirit of God poured out on ordinary people from every nation, language, and background.

Together, they invite us to reflect on both the pain humanity can inflict and the hope God continues to offer through unity and love.

So this weekend, we honor sacrifice. We pray for peace. We remember the fallen. And we ask the Spirit to keep shaping us into people who build a world where fewer crosses, fewer battlefields, and fewer grieving families are needed.

“Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.”

Today is Mother’s Day. For the moms, grandmas, adopted moms, stepmoms, and all the “moms” who chose love, sacrifice, and care, we celebrate you with gratitude.

For those grieving because these amazing women are no longer with us, or because someone we loved and raised is no longer here, we grieve with you.

For those carrying complicated emotions today, feeling broken, angry, distant, exhausted, or hurting, we see you too.

Today is about love in all its forms, and every story, every joy, and every ache matters.

We set tables every week at Feed Thy Neighbor. Now we have a chance to help set tables around the world.

O’Neal St. UMC is being asked to support Rise Against Hunger through our South Carolina Annual Conference by raising at least $100 to help make 125,000 meals possible. We would love to meet that goal together.
