IT'S TIME TO REGISTER FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES: It’s that time of year to start our religious education program for another year (August – May). Most of the education for our children is taught at home using the Family of Faith parent’s Guide and a workbook for the children to learn about their faith. The program meets twice a month with Deacon Al, once with the parents to review the material to work on with the children and once for the parents and the children to review how well the projects were completed.

Parents are also responsible for preparing their children for 1st Confession and 1st Communion.

Confirmation preparation is held at the church and coordinated by Deacon Jerry. It is a two-year program.

A calendar for the year will be distributed soon to assist your planning.

Please register your family now so that we can order the books that will be needed. Come to the hall after either Mass to get the forms filled out for your family.

Fees: One child - $25.00, Second and third child, $10.00 each. Maximum charge is $45.00.
The Parent’s Guide is available in either Spanish or English while the children’s workbook is bilingual.

Teachers and classroom assistants are very much needed, especially for the Confirmation classes. Please contact Deacon Jerry if you can help.

As we prepare to celebrate the New Year, let us not forget to celebrate life. Please spread the word throughout your parishes and communities and come to Columbia in Force to attend the Proudly Pro Life March and Rally on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Let's stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves and let the world know that we are serious when we say we are "pro-life". The march will begin at the University of South Carolina Russell House on Green Street at 11:30 AM and proceed to the State House, north plaza on Gervais Street. Again this year, the march will be led by the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.

There will be no Adoration or Mass tomorrow, Friday December 30th, because Fr. Hugo and Deacon Jerry are both out of town and Deacon Al has hurt his back. There will be no Adoration on the next Friday, January 6th, but Deacon Jerry should be back in time to hold a Communion Service at the 6:00 PM daily Mass time.

The Family of Faith meeting this week will start off with a short session to address some administrative items followed by a dinner and children’s Christmas party. Families that are not participating in the Family of Faith program with children 12 and under are welcome to attend as well. We look forward to seeing you at 6:30 Wednesday evening December 21st.

RELIGIOUS ED CLASSES: The Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 7. At least on parent of each family should attend to prepare for the Family of Faith home lessons for the month. No Confirmation class is scheduled this week.

RELIGIOUS ED CLASSES: The Family Meeting class has been moved to Tuesday, October 18 since there’s a retreat starting on Wednesday, the 19th. No Confirmation classes will be held since there will be a Family Meeting which includes parents and children who are working on the Family of Faith workbook. All families should be present. At the Parent Meeting on October 5, there were quite a few parents missing. We still have books to distribute as well as the Virtus material. The parish is required by the diocese to distribute Empowering God’s Children Teaching Safety. This year’s topic is “Physical Boundaries – Safe and Unsafe Touching Rules.” Material for all grade levels is provided so that you can educate your children and help them to be safe. For those parents who are teaching their children at home, there’s a form that needs to be returned to the church that confirms that your children were taught the Empowering God’s Children material for their age group. The handout also includes the Opt-out form if your children are not going to participate in the program. We have to report number of children taught and opted-out to the diocese.

Due to Hurricane Ian being in our neighborhood on Saturday, the City has postponed Oktoberfest to Saturday, October 15.

We'll go ahead with our original plans for what to sell in our booth, so we're expecting everyone who volunteered to donate something or to work in the booth to do the same for the 15th. If that's a problem for you, contact Liz Rivera. Thanks for helping us out with this community activity.

We will be at the Community Corner which is located between 1530 and 1511 Main Street. We are in Booth # 10. Come on down and see us.
