Several weeks ago, I was pondering the first phrase of verse 6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” The thought came: I only know what is following me when I turn around and look back. Looking over my shoulder, I see God's goodness in many ways.

Peace doesn't come from having every answer. It comes from fixing our minds on the God who never changes and trusting Him with what we cannot control.

Depression affects more than 15 million American adults – 6.7% of the population 18 or older. Twenty percent of teens experience depression before adulthood and 70% will have more than one episode of depression before adulthood. 8.3% of these teens suffer depression for at least a year.

Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression.

Untreated su***de is the leading cause of su***de, and su***de is the leading cause of death for young people ages 15 – 24.

These overwhelming statistics demonstrate that depression is a broad life crisis with many unique circumstances. Similarly, in this interview, Danielle’s story demonstrates that depression in young adults is often rooted in childhood. It’s easy to hide depression, and to slowly hide away rather than fight the dark feelings of sadness, loneliness, and worthlessness. Danielle offers help and hope as she describes the steps she took to find her way back to a life of purpose.

Addiction can affect anyone—and its impact reaches far beyond the person struggling. Families hurt. Relationships break. Hope can feel far away.

But God is still at work.

Through our Help & Hope series, MARKINC Ministries has shared real stories of addiction, recovery, family struggles, redemption, and the transforming power of Christ.

These stories touch on struggles such as:

• Drug and substance addiction
• Alcohol addiction
• Po*******hy and sexual addiction
• Eating disorders
• Addiction beginning at a young age
• Loving someone who is struggling
• The impact of addiction on families
• Finding freedom, restoration, and hope
