NYCMC Saturday Children’s Program has begun with so much fun and excitement! 🎉
Our first day, Saturday, September 5th, kicked off with a martial arts class led by qualified instructors.
From there, they moved onto Islamic Studies, learning about the importance and benefits of the five daily prayers.
Beyond just knowing we pray five times a day, our children explored how each prayer offers a moment to reset and reconnect throughout the day, how salah builds discipline and gratitude, and how staying consistent with prayer strengthens our relationship with Allah.
Then, depending on their track and age group, they took part in hands-on activities designed to help this material really stick, all while having a fun and exciting time doing it.
After that, our kids sat for a quick assessment so we can place each of them at the right level moving forward, whether that’s vowels, vocabulary, numbers, or letters.
Then we did Quran memorization, learning Surah Al-Layl, Ayahs 1-3, with tajweed and pronunciation.
Then came lunch, followed by praying Dhuhr together as one group, learning about Islam and what it truly means to stand shoulder to shoulder in salah.
For families whose kids are in school Monday through Friday, this is exactly what a Saturday should look like: learning about Islam, connection to their deen, and the best time of their week.
