One of the more interesting things (at least to me) about the story of Jonah is how that God simply told him to go to Nineveh and preach to them. After his botched escape, God gave him the same instructions, almost word for word. He was told to go to Nineveh and preach to them. God’s word does not change. What he expects from us does not change. This is because God does not change. He is still God!

There are those who worship the creation instead of the creator. They put their faith in “mother earth” or in the animals who roam the earth instead of the God who made it all. This is not new. It has been going on since the early days of mankind. When God is left out of the equation of life, people go from bad to worse. This could easily explain why we have the mess we have today in our world.

f God takes care of the livestock and the plants by sending rain, if he cares for the birds that sing, and he provides for the wild animals in the wilderness as well as in the mountains, he will certainly take care of his children. So why do we worry so much about what we think we need? God provides, and he provides abundantly so that we can enjoy his blessings. When we trust God, we don’t need to worry!

God is love so we are to love. To be like him we love, not because someone loves us or we consider them to be loveable, but we love everyone, even our enemies and those who try to harm us. To love like him, we are willing to forgive anyone for anything! This means we extend the forgiveness, even if they don’t ask, don’t deserve it (in our minds), and even if they deny they have done anything wrong.
