St. Maria Goretti Parish St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Founded in 1965, the Parish is located in Eastern New Orleans.

Hard to believe it has already been a week since we concluded our inaugural Leadership Fellowship! These fourteen young ladies spent three weeks growing in faith, developing their leadership skills, and building community. We are grateful for their commitment to the program and pray that they will continue to grow as disciples and leaders. Be on the lookout for the youth events they planned that will take place throughout the coming year.

Our final field experience took us to Son of a Saint, where we learned more about living out a mission of service and impact, followed by a wonderful celebratory lunch at the historic Dooky Chase’s Restaurant.

This week, participants in our Leadership Fellowship visited Xavier University of Louisiana to learn about the visionary leadership of Saint Katharine Drexel and the enduring legacy of Dr. Norman C. Francis. Through their witness, our fellows saw how leadership rooted in a strong sense of identity can sustain a mission and continue serving a community long after a leader’s own service has ended. Our theme this year is Man of God. Today we give thanks for the fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and father figures who strive to follow the Lord with courage and faith. In a world filled with uncertainty, a Man of God trusts that the Lord is with him and is not afraid to live as a faithful witness to Christ.
