As we begin this New Year, Fr. Daniel and the parish staff extend prayerful good wishes to you and to those you hold dear. We step into the year ahead with hope and trust, grateful for your faith, generosity, and commitment to our parish family and to our shared mission to reveal the presence of Christ and bring the scattered to Him.

As we place this year under the loving care of Mary, Mother of God, may she bless our families, protect our parish, and guide us in peace and faith. Please know of our continued prayers for you, and we ask that you keep Fr. Daniel and the staff in your prayers as well.

Wishing a blessed and joyful Kwanzaa to all who celebrate. As we honor the Nguzo Saba, the Seven Principles, may this sacred time strengthen our commitment to unity, self determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. May these days deepen our love for one another, renew our hope, and inspire us to continue the work of building a just and life giving community. Peace and blessings to you and your family.

Fr. Daniel and the parish staff wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas. Our prayer for you in this holy time is that you may draw near to the Christ Child laid in the creche and truly Touch Jesus. God comes to us not at a distance, but within reach, inviting us into encounter, trust, and relationship. As we kneel before the manger, may we open our hearts to receive Him, allowing His presence to shape our lives and renew our hope. This Christmas, may you Touch Jesus and be changed by the nearness of Emmanuel.

The parish office will remain closed until Monday, January 5th at 8:00 am so that members of the staff may enjoy time with their families. During this time, if you are in need of emergency pastoral assistance, please call the office number and leave a voicemail. Someone will regularly be checking the voicemails to ensure we handle your needs. All non-emergency calls will be returned when the office reopens on January 5th.

We join our St. Peter Claver family in prayer today. Mrs. V was a true gift to the Black Catholics of New Orleans and to the wider Gospel music family near and far. We thank God for the many times she came to St. Maria Goretti Parish, sharing her gifts so generously and ministering with such a joyful spirit. May she now rest in the peace of Christ and enjoy the reward of her faithful labor.

It is with deep sorrow and profound faith in the Resurrection that the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church Family announces the passing of Mrs. Veronica Downs Dorsey, the Queen Mother of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Mrs. Veronica’s entire life has been an act of total praise as she has dedicated her life to the proclamation of the Gospel through music. Hers is a legacy of deep faith, humble service, and unwavering commitment to God and His people. Generations of souls have been transformed by her witness and love. Now, we commend her to the true joy and strength of her life, God Almighty.

We pray with Veronique and Wardell during this time. We comfort them with our love and support.

Eternal rest grant unto Veronica, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
