Emanuel's summer worship schedule begins Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-24, 2026 and goes through Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 5-6, 2026

This summer, our 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. traditional worship services will be combined into one service at 9:00 a.m.

The Gathering service will continue at its regular time of 10:30 a.m., but will be held in the sanctuary.

We will continue to offer our 5:00 p.m. service on Saturdays.

Questions About Our Summer Worship Schedule:

Q. When is Holy Communion offered, and how is it distributed?
A. • 5:00 p.m. — Holy Communion is offered whenever Communion is celebrated at the 9:00 a.m. service (the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of the month). Communion is distributed at the altar using individual cups.
• 9:00 a.m. — Holy Communion is offered on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of the month. Communion is distributed at the altar, with both the chalice and individual cups available.
• 10:30 a.m. (The Gathering) — Holy Communion is offered on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Communion is distributed at floor level rather than at the communion rail, consistent with how it was distributed when The Gathering met in the gym.

Q. What is The Gathering?
A. The Gathering follows the same order of service as our traditional worship (Divine Service) while incorporating contemporary music led by guitar, drums, and piano instead of organ. The liturgy is spoken, creating a more informal worship setting. Pastors and acolytes do not wear robes.

Q. I’m used to attending The Gathering in the gym. What can I expect?
You can expect the same worship service and contemporary music you experienced in the gym. Holy Communion will continue to be distributed in the same way. The primary difference is that the musicians will now play from the balcony.

Q. Who will be playing music at The Gathering?
We are excited to have Trevor Hunt (guitar), Dr. Jason Miller (drums), and Director of Parish Music Doug Reynolds (piano) sharing their musical gifts with us this summer!
