A Message to Our Church Family and Our Community

Our community is hurting after Saturday’s tragedy. It has deeply affected two families who are part of our Henry Christian Church family.

Both families have asked us to share this message on their behalf. They have each told me, “We want peace. We want healing.” They are grieving and facing difficult days ahead, but they want people to know that their frustration is not directed toward one another. Even in their pain, they are showing compassion and grace to each other.

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9, ESV) I hope we will follow the example these families are setting.

We want to stand with both families. We seek to walk alongside them with love as they grieve and begin to heal. Jesus loves both families, and we do too.

Robert is coming home from the hospital and has a long recovery ahead. A Meal Train has been set up to help Robert and Amy’s family. If you would like to provide a meal, you can find the link to the meal train in the comments of this post.

Brenda is grieving the loss of her son, Desmond. Please pray for her and for all of Desmond’s family and friends as they prepare for his funeral. Our church will also be providing a meal for Brenda and her family after the funeral. When the arrangements are posted we will put the link in the comments of this post.

We also have a group of men from the church going to both homes to help with repairs and anything else that is needed. It’s one more way we can come alongside these families and serve them right now.

As we care for these families, let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Scripture reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1, ESV).

Let’s look to Him together and pray for His help and healing in the days ahead.
