“God Is Able”
Matthew 7:7
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
As Christians we set goals and create visions of success on our journey. We must give our best effort each day and trust God to carry us higher. He grew up in Riverside California as the oldest of five children. His nickname Dusty came from his mother because of “his propensity for playing in a dirt spot in the backyard”. He loved playing sports and was good at baseball. There was a moment in life as a teenager that he wanted to quit and throw newspapers, but his father said no and encouraged him to keep playing. It is a good thing that he listened to his father. Johnnie B. “Dusty” Baker Jr. has distinguished himself as a legend in Major League Baseball history. His accomplishments include “19 seasons as a player, a two-time All-Star, won two Silver Slugger Awards ,a Gold Glove Award, and became the first NLCS MVP, which he received during the 1977 National League Championship Series. He also made three World Series appearances, winning one in 1981. He was the first manager in major league history to lead five different teams to division titles, Twelfth manager and first African American manager with 2,000 victories”. In 2022 with the Houston Astros, Dusty Baker became the oldest manager to appear in, and win the World Series at age 73. God is able to exceed our expectations and take us higher than we can imagine!
When we proclaim God is Able:
1. We acknowledge that we are children of a loving heavenly father!
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
Galatians 3:26 ml
2. We are reflecting our position in the body of Christ!
“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:
II Corinthians 5:20
3. We are celebrating our belief that God hears our prayers!
“And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.”
I Samuel 2:1-2
Start today:
(A) To ask God to enlarge your territory.
“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
I Chronicles 4:10
(B) To trust God in every phase of your life to make a difference.
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
Psalms 20:7
(C) To encourage another believer to get excited about the next step on their journey with Jesus.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:6
Prayer: Thank you Lord that all we have to do is ask you to take us higher and trust that you are able to grant our request.
