This Sunday (Sept. 13th) marks the beginning of another sweep over the whole story of the Bible, this year focusing on the Gospel of Matthew. We start with the story of the Great Flood and Noah building the ark. At creation God gave us a job- have care for and have dominion over the earth. In Noah's time...that wasn't going very well to the point that all of creation was corrupted.

Opportunity for Reflection: What responsibility do we have for the whole world? In what ways have you felt your life positively or negatively affected by someone else? How are you (or could you) work to make the world more like God's Kingdom?

See you on Sunday at 10:30am!

This Sunday, we will look at a very special verse referred to as the "Shema," meaning "listen" in Hebrew. Found at Deuteronomy 6:4, the Shema is the first part of a prayer recited by Jews every morning and every night. It is found on doorways and in a special religious item called a tefillin, worn by Jews during prayer.

Opportunity for Reflection: 1. What is the implication of a
prayer starting with "listen?" 2. Do you or God do more
listening when you pray? 3. What things in your life remind you of God's presence in the mundane?

This Sunday, in this final week of our sermon series through Revelation, we are told that former things are made new. The new Jerusalem comes down and a river of life-giving stream flows out into the world. The same is true of us and our church. Through the power of God's Holy Spirit working in us, we are made new and God's life-giving force flows in and through us, transforming the world.
Opportunities for Reflection: When have you experienced or been a source of life for/from someone? In what ways do you think the new creation is different or similar to the world today? What is the curse that will be no more?

See you Sunday at 10:30

This Sunday, we are continuing our series through John's Revelation and we come to one of the most well known images of the book- "The Mark of the Beast." Being "marked" is a prominent theme of the New Testament and comes up especially around baptism. John, however, is specifically referencing Nero Ceasar, coins that bore his image.
Opportunity for Reflection: How do the events of our lives "mark" us? How would our lives look different when marked by Jesus?
What fears have you experienced from the idea of the "Mark of the Beast"?

This Sunday Josh Sheppard joins us as we continue to explore the vision described in John's Revelation. After having seen all but the final seal opened, with largely disastrous outcomes. Death, destruction and plague sweep across the world. Those who follow the Lamb are under harsh oppression. An army is called together. In the moment when it is all about to come to a head, we see what Christ's fighting and ultimate victory look like- people from different languages, races, backgrounds together.

Opportunity for Reflection: How does a community grow to look different from itself? How are you seeking to meet people who
are different than you? Do you think building community changes
the world?

This Sunday, as we dive deeper into John's vision, we see that heaven is in a bit of disarray for there is no one on earth or in heaven who is worthy to open the scroll of power that will bring all things into order. Suddenly a figure appears, called the "Lion of Judah." The camera pans and there stands a Lamb that has been slaughtered.

Opportunity for Reflection: What does it mean to you that Jesus is both Lamb and Lion? How does that inform our lives as Christians? What makes Jesus worthy to open the scroll and how can we love that out in our lives?
