God the Father Loves Us

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1a)

As followers of Christ, you are called children of God! His love for you is extravagant! No one on earth, even the best earthly father, will ever love you as much as God does. You are chosen. You are dearly loved. You are God’s child. It is just who you are. God has chosen to have this intimate family relationship with you. He is not far off. He is a loving Father. The Fatherhood of God is a truth as much as any other truth in God’s word. This truth does not change. He will never leave you, forsake you, or turn away from you. Take time today to think about the great love he has lavished on you, that you should be called a child of God, and that is what you are.

Join the Women's Ministry for a weekend of fellowship and study surrounding the book of Acts. Looking at the beautiful, messy and radical hospitality of the early church. We will focus on building authentic, deep relationships with one another. Throughout the weekend we will break down walls of comparison and practice creating true biblical community together.

Abba Father!

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. (Romans 8:15-16)

Yesterday our devotional spoke about God’s name as Father being hallowed (revered as holy). In this passage we learn that the name Father is also intimate and personal. Abba is added to the name of Father. “Abba Father!” The word Abba would translate as, Daddy. The name Daddy is childlike, personal, and intimate. And the word Father still acknowledges reverence. Abba Father. As Christians we are adopted into God’s family. That is done and will never be undone. And his Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Today, cry out to God from the depth of your heart, “Abba Father!” Enjoy your relationship with your Abba Father just like a child enjoys a father they feel cherished by. You have received adoption and are truly God’s child.

The True Light

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. (John 1:9-10)

God created the heavens and the earth. He separated the light from the darkness. He formed man and breathed into him the breath of life. God himself became flesh and dwelt among us. All this and so much more; yet the world he made did not recognize him. How heartbreaking! How sad would it be to go through life not knowing who God is, not knowing your Creator. Pray for those that do not know God. Pray for them to recognize their creator and truly know him.

The Truth

The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
(Psalm 12:6)

For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
(John 12:49-50)

There is no falsehood in God’s words. His words are holy. His words are pure and flawless. His promises can be fully trusted. And Jesus let people know that every word he had spoken on earth was directed by the Father. People were amazed at the authority in his words. The Son’s words reveal to us the heart of the Father. There is always unity in their words. What is a truth from God’s word that you can ponder and treasure in your heart today? Here is one you can hang your hat on: "As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him." (Psalm 18:30)
