Kannon Do Zen Meditation Center brings the tradition of Soto Zen Buddhism to the San Francisco Peninsula and the South Bay. Individuals from Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, San Jose, and surrounding communities come together to sit in meditation, study Buddhist teachings, and explore the meaning of Zen practice in our busy lives and in the modern world. Please join us this evening, December 22nd, when Sosan Theresa Flynn will be our guest speaker and give a Dharma talk followed by an online discussion.

Sosan is currently the president of SZBA (Soto Zen Buddhist Association) and a Guiding Teacher of Clouds in Water Zen Center (MN), where she has been practicing since 1994. She was ordained as a Soto Zen Buddhist priest by Dosho Port in 1997, practiced with several teachers including Byakuren Judith Ragir, and received dharma transmission from Joen Snyder O’Neal in 2012.

Sosan has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with professional experience in both community mental health and staff training. Sosan is interested in diversity, equity and inclusion, inter-generational practice, and ethics.

Please join us this evening, December 15th, where Shōku Kathy Early will give a Dharma talk followed by an online discussion.

Kathy began sitting zazen daily in 1994 while working as a semiconductor engineer in Silicon Valley. In 2000, Kathy moved to San Francisco Zen Center, where she lived and trained for 16 years, practicing mainly at Tassajara Zen Monastery and Green Gulch Farm. She received priest ordination in 2005. Since 2016, she has spent a cumulative 17 months at Toshoji International Training Monastery, in Okayama, Japan, including four angos (90 day training periods). Kathy currently lives in Palo Alto and practices at Kannon Do.
