09.06.2026: SENT

What if the greatest thing holding the church back is simply that we have not yet said yes to being sent? This week's message from Mark 6:7-13 reminded us that Jesus still calls, still equips, and still sends his people into a broken world. The disciples did not go in their own strength or wisdom. They went because Jesus called them, gave them authority, and sent them out together.

The mission has not changed. Sunday is where we are equipped. Monday is when we are sent. Our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and families are full of people who need Jesus. The question is not whether Jesus has a mission. The question is whether we will participate in it.

This week, find someone who needs Jesus. Make a phone call. Get together. Fellowship outside these walls. And when the Lord says go, let your answer be: here I am. Send me. (Isaiah 6:8)

We tend to like people who talk like us, think like us, dress like us, eat the same things we eat, live where we live, and believe the things we believe.
But here's the question I want us to think about today:
What about people who aren't like us?

We live in a world filled with cultural, ethnic, social, and religious differences. People may speak different languages, eat different foods, dress differently, worship differently, and have very different life experiences. These differences can enrich our communities, but they can also create barriers.

Sometimes the greatest barriers are not physical walls. They are the walls we build in our hearts and minds.

Jesus showed us how to cross those walls.

Have you ever felt like darkness was your only friend? Psalm 88 gives us one of the most honest prayers in all of Scripture -- a man named Heman who pours out his pain to God without a happy ending, without a dramatic breakthrough. And yet, he keeps praying.

This week's message reminds us that faith does not always look like shouting. Sometimes faith looks like whispering, "God, I'm still here." You do not have to pretend everything is okay to walk into God's presence. Honest prayer is still prayer. Silence does not mean absence.

If you are in a Psalm 88 season -- praying for healing, a prodigal, restoration, or direction -- do not stop. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Because the God who meets us on the mountain walks with us through the valley, and even when darkness feels like your closest companion, Jesus is closer.

Are you fighting battles in your own strength? This week we discovered a powerful truth: the battle belongs to the Lord.

When King Hezekiah faced an intimidating enemy, he didn't panic or rely on human alliances. He went straight to God in prayer. And God's response? He fought supernaturally—no human army needed. One angel defeated 185,000 enemies while Hezekiah's people slept.

Here's what this means for you today: Whatever struggle you're facing—financial, relational, mental, or spiritual—God is fighting for you RIGHT NOW. But you have a part to play: get on your knees and pray. Prayer isn't symbolic; it's effective. It moves heaven. When you pray according to His will, He hears you (1 John 5:14).

Stop trying to defeat giants in your own strength. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Your victory is supernatural and God-glorifying. The enemy may speak loudly, but God speaks louder. He's got this.

When the enemy sends you a threatening letter—whether it's fear, doubt, or impossible circumstances—what do you do? King Hezekiah faced the mighty Assyrian army breathing down his neck, receiving a message that screamed: "Your God can't save you." His response? He took that letter straight to the temple and laid it before the Lord.

The enemy's voice is always loud, but it's limited. He wants you to believe defeat is inevitable, that you're alone, that God won't show up in time. But here's the truth: the battle belongs to the Lord. Not your strength. Not your resources. His.

Prayer replaces anxiety. When you bring your burdens specifically and intentionally before God—even with mustard seed faith—mountains move. You don't have to face your battles alone. Step out. Lay it at His feet. Watch Him defend what belongs to Him.

"Be not afraid or dismayed, for the battle is not yours but God's." - 2 Chronicles 20:15
