This Sunday we start a new message series for the summer on Paul's letter to the first generation of Jesus followers in the Roman city of Colossae. It is packed full of wonderful material to help us and encourage us as we walk our Christian path today.

Here is a wonderful overview of the letter in this 9-minute video from the Bible Project. I hope you can spare the time to give this a listen. You may want to run this twice to make sure you did not miss anything.

I rarely wear a robe, but this Sunday I needed a visual aid in my sermon introduction on THE PRIESTHOOD OF ALL BELIEVERS. I wore this to get fresh reaction from worshipers to show that clothing and religious elitism go hand in hand. The atmosphere shifts in the room when I wear an obvious religious garment, and the atmosphere also shifts as I speak in everyday clothes as a fellow traveler in the faith.

Giving up the robe nearly 30 years ago was not an easy decision for me. It was part of my role and identity. Ultimately I chose relationship and rapport over ritual .

We begin a series for the summer as we walk through Paul’s Letter to the Colossians: TRANSFERRED TO THE KINGDOM OF HIS SON.

This letter to the first generation of believers gives us the opportunity to get back to the basics.

This week, June 14, is the first message in the series entitled: THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER. The passage: Colossians 1.3-14. Here we take a look at one of Paul’s prayers and how this Holy Spirit endorsed prayer can help you … and help you help others.

We have two services. The Contemporary Service starts at 9 AM and the Traditional Service starts at 11 AM. Join us in person or online this Sunday.

May 31st was a special day in the life of FPC as we ordained and installed elders and deacons. The service was followed by a fellowship lunch and an opportunity to donate to the Women’s Association project to support our missionary families. It was a wonderful celebration.
