What does it truly mean to belong? This week's sermon explored the radical call to community found in Romans 13:8-14 and Matthew 18:15-20 — and it is far more demanding, and far more beautiful, than anything we might imagine.

Paul's words to owe nothing except love turned the entire Roman world upside down. Love is not an add-on to our obligations — it replaces them entirely. That is a revolutionary way of living.

Jesus, in Matthew 18, gives us something equally challenging: a blueprint for honest, authentic community. Not a place to blend in, but a place to show up fully — with our struggles, our conflicts, and our hope — trusting that where two or three are gathered, Christ is present.

Authentic community costs everything. But it is also where healing, forgiveness, and the kingdom of heaven become real among us.
