Sitting in my office doing some final edits on Sunday’s sermon, a load of laundry just finishing in the washer. Deep in contemplation, I paused and thought what’s that noise, is the final rinse filling…no, the washer isn’t revving up for a final spin. Oh, the window is open in the bathroom, that’s the sound of rain off the roof…then a childhood memory jumped to the forefront of my thoughts…”I saw raindrops on my window joy is like the rain…” soon I was singing the last verse…”I saw raindrops on the river, joy is like the rain, bit by bit the river grows, ‘til all at once it overflows, joy is like the rain…”
If you’ve never read the story of this song’s inspiration and creation, look up Miriam Therese Winter - Joy Is Like the Rain.
May your day be filled with the joy of blessings…God is good.
