Dear Unity Church Family,
It is a joy to be your pastor, and the Lord is doing some wonderful things in our church. We are growing, lives are being touched, and people are becoming part of our church family. In just the last few months, we have welcomed 19 additions to Unity Baptist Church. We praise God for every person He has brought our way.
We also have search committees seeking a youth minister and a worship leader. These positions are important as we continue reaching young people, strengthening families, leading our congregation in worship, and fulfilling the mission God has given us. I truly believe the best days of Unity Baptist Church are ahead of us—but for us to move forward, we need every member and every family to be involved.
I want to share some important financial information with you. Before I do, however, I want you to know that I do not know who gives what financially to our church. I have intentionally chosen not to know individual giving amounts because I never want the way I pastor or care for someone to be influenced by what that person contributes. I also do not know which families are represented in the giving information I am about to share. The information has been given to me only as a summary, without any names attached.
What I do know is that we have approximately 50 active families in our church. Ten of those families provide 72 percent of all the money given to Unity Baptist Church. Another ten families provide an additional 18 percent. This means that 20 families are currently providing 90 percent of our church’s financial support.
I share these numbers not to criticize, embarrass, or pressure anyone. I share them because the ministry of our church belongs to all of us. A small number of families should not have to carry almost the entire financial responsibility of the church. Every family may not be able to give the same amount, but every Christian family can prayerfully seek to participate.
The Bible teaches that giving is an act of worship and obedience. Paul wrote:
“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
—2 Corinthians 9:7
Biblical giving is not primarily about paying bills—it is about trusting God, honoring Him, and investing in His work. Our giving supports every ministry of Unity Baptist Church. It helps us minister to children and youth, provide worship and Bible study, care for people in times of need, support missions, maintain our facilities, and reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, I am asking every individual and family who is not presently giving to make a commitment to begin. If you have never given regularly, start somewhere and begin giving faithfully. Pray about what God would have you give, and then make it a consistent priority. As God provides and your faith grows, work toward giving a biblical tithe—ten percent of your income.
For those who are already giving faithfully, thank you. Your generosity and obedience are making ministry possible. I also encourage you to pray and ask whether the Lord would have you increase your giving as our ministry opportunities grow.
This is not simply about meeting a budget. It is about reaching people. It is about discipling children and teenagers, strengthening families, supporting missions, caring for those who are hurting, and proclaiming the gospel in our community. Every gift represents an investment in the work God has entrusted to Unity Baptist Church.
Please prayerfully consider making the following commitment:
“Believing that everything I have comes from God, I will honor Him by beginning—or continuing—to give regularly and faithfully through Unity Baptist Church.”
I believe God has placed Unity Baptist Church in this community for such a time as this. Our name is Unity, and we must live up to that name—united in Him, grounded in truth, and committed to His mission together. When each of us faithfully does our part, God can use our combined obedience to accomplish more than any one of us could accomplish alone.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being your pastor. I love you, I am thankful for you, and I am excited about what God is doing among us. Let us move forward together with faith, generosity, and expectation, believing that the best days of Unity Baptist Church are still ahead.
