Several years after imposing the 'hymn of the month' regimen, someone phoned in a bomb threat to our school. Our response protocol was to assemble the students in a safe space... in this case, our gym. The students were scared.... One of our teachers came to me—'It's time to sing.'
..The students relaxed and started requesting other hymns they now knew, in parts. I stood at the entrance to the gym as the police and their dogs swept the building. Great things were going on in that gym. I watched as beauty rang out from five hundred children... who, in the face of danger, sought beauty. It was their solace."

If you are one of our member schools, we are looking for unique events and activities to highlight. Check out our Spring 2026 issue for reference (pages 32-33).

If you’d like to submit a story to showcase—and are able to meet the following criteria—please get in touch via the contact below.

—Must be a member school with ACCS
—Able to share 1-3 images (high resolution) highlighting a recent event or activity
—Include a short description (100 max word count) along with your school name and location
