Join us as we celebrate the Eucharist: Whether you're local, traveling, or visiting online, all are welcome! Our parish, while relatively new, is really the oldest Catholic parish in Monongalia County. We were canonically established in 1901 and have undergone several changes, not only of location, but also in name. From 1901 until 1939, we were known as St. Francis de Sales Parish. From 1939 unti

l 1998, we were known as St. Then in 1998, having merged with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Westover, we became the Parish of St. Theresa/St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. With the construction of our new parish complex, we once again became the Parish of St. Francis de Sales. Please feel free to come and visit us at our new location. We would be very happy to see you. God bless you and yours and keep you all close to Himself. Francis de Sales is a parish in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. Please note that all those active in employment, ministries, and volunteer activities must be Safe Environment compliant. Please consult our Diocesan policy for the Protection of Children at https://dwc.org/diocese/offices/office-of-safe-environment/, as well as instructions for becoming trained on the Diocesan website. Continuing education is an important component of Safe Environment - all those active in ministry and employment should check the Virtus accounts monthly for bulletins. For those without internet, the bulletins are provided in printed format in the Gathering Space.

Donna (Fazenbaker) Lattanzi, peacefully passed away at home with her daughters by her side, on June 2, 2026.

Born on October 18, 1939, Donna was the daughter of the late Melvin and Leola Fazenbaker. She lived in the community of Woodburn her entire life. She attended Woodburn elementary and was a graduate of Morgantown High School.

Donna’s greatest joy was her three daughters. As a homemaker, she was very much involved in all of their activities, from being a homeroom mother to a band parent.

Donna was a volunteer, past president and lifetime member of the Monongalia General Hospital Auxiliary.

Donna was very kind and generous with her time and talents. She enjoyed baking, especially during the holidays. She loved sharing her pizzelles and Easter bread with her family and friends. Donna was on the linen ministry for St. Frances de Sales Catholic church, where she was a member.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jamie and Julie. Her sister Ann Basferd, several nieces and nephews and her best friend Barbara Cupelli, who she considered a sister. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, James, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Burley Johnson, as well as brother, Robert and sister, Sylvett.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 1:00-5:00 PM. Visitation will continue at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Lord, teach us to see Your loving care in all creation. Bless every newborn child, every young life, and every family entrusted with their care. May we receive each new life with gratitude, nurture it with patience, and accompany it with faith. Amen.

Summer often brings a slower pace. The schedules ease up. The days stretch a little longer. And in the Church, we enter Ordinary Time—a season that reminds us that most spiritual growth happens not in extraordinary moments, but in ordinary, faithful ones.

This summer, consider building one small spiritual habit into your week. Attend one daily Mass. Spend a few quiet minutes with Scripture. Offer a simple prayer before bed. Choose something sustainable.

Faith is built much the same way a garden grows—through steady care, not sudden bursts of effort. Small acts of faithfulness, repeated over time, can transform a life.

Our weekday Mass schedule offers several opportunities to pause, pray, and be renewed:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday – 8:30 a.m.
Wednesday – 7:00 p.m.
Friday – 7:30 a.m.

Build a small habit. Let God do the rest.

Two notes about this weekend’s bulletin:

First, a quick correction: An article in the May 31 bulletin mistakenly says that the parish mission is next weekend. The correct dates are June 13–14.

We apologize for the confusion and appreciate your patience. Because of an early print deadline, this bulletin did not go through our usual proofreading process.

Second, you may notice that we changed the format of the monthly calendar. The goal was to make the schedule larger and easier to read. If you have feedback—especially if you prefer the traditional grid format—please let us know in the comments below.

As the month of May draws to a close, we offer this final Marian hymn with gratitude and quiet prayer.

“Mary Watched and Prayed” reminds us of the steady faith of Our Lady — a faith that did not always understand, but always trusted. Mary watched the life of her Son unfold with wonder, sorrow, hope, and love. She remained near to Him in moments of joy and in moments of suffering. And through it all, she prayed.
Perhaps that is one of the simplest and most beautiful lessons Mary gives to the Church: to remain close to Christ, to watch with love, and to pray with trust.

We are especially grateful to three of our young parishioners — Stella Devono, Lana Morgan, and Winnie Huffman — for sharing their voices and helping to lead our parish in prayer throughout this month dedicated to Our Blessed Mother.

Holy Mary, teach us to watch and pray.
