We are so grateful for First United Methodist Church, Hickory and Pastor Paul and Pastor Carson for supporting us today in helping a local individual get moved into a new apartment! It's powerful when churches work together and we can see signs of the United Methodist Connection and indeed the connection that all churches have across space and time in Christ. On Tuesday, August 25 at 5:30pm we have our next gathering of our Cancer Survivors/Thrivers Group that will meet at St. Matthews UMC (201 Shady Rest Rd, Morganton, NC). Anyone who has experienced or is experiencing cancer is invited to join in this fellowship group aimed at allowing space for processing and support for those who personally experience cancer. Meeting time is open for sharing your experiences and hearing from others with the goal of creating an ongoing monthly support group. This group is open to all religious backgrounds. Questions? Parking instructions: Park to the left of the sanctuary, if looking from the street, and enter the basement entrance door on that side of the sanctuary building.

Today we celebrate the day of Pentecost, that day 2000 years ago when God’s Spirit was poured out upon the Church! In a practice of being open to God’s empowerment we each painted flames on this canvas, recognizing that the ways that God touches us individually brings us together into the beautiful mosaic that is the body of Christ.

This Pentecost Sunday may you know that God loves you deeply in all your unique ways and invites you to let this love carry you into community with others!
