Speak the Truth We Know
Ephesians 4:25
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
In recent decades, Christians have had a poor track record of engaging our culture. That has to change. We can’t just preach and moralize among ourselves. You’ve heard the saying that in polite company we shouldn’t talk about faith or politics. I believe in polite company we must talk about faith and politics. As students of the Bible, we talk endlessly about the cultural issues of ancient times. It’s time to start talking about the cultural issues of our times. And we should speak the truth, as we know it, in the context of our biblical worldview. We need to share how our faith impacts everything about our world, including politics. These conversations may be a bit awkward, especially if we’ve been keeping quiet about our faith, or saying things we don’t believe, in order to keep the peace and get along. But these are the conversations we must have if we intend to shape the future toward Kingdom purposes.
THINK ABOUT IT
God’s people are meant to practice their Christian faith, and our faith must impact our generation.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth and its power and authority, may it find an unshakable place within me. Forgive me for when I have been selfishly preoccupied, distracted, or too timid to stand up for Your truth. I repent and ask You to grant me boldness to courageously live for You, speak Your truth, and proclaim my faith to a generation stumbling in the dark. In Jesus’ name and in the power of the Spirit, amen.
