Happy to sponsor Trans Day of Visibility!

With our Raise the Trans Flag Event concluding, I will be spending time across the next few days thanking our sponsors for this event. The first organization to thank is First Congregational United Church of Christ Moorhead.

They contributed 100 dollars in sponsorship and provided a video welcoming anyone to their faith community. They have long been champions of our LGBTQ+ and Transgender community within the Fargo-Moorhead community and have historically help to host the Transgender Day of Remembrance events alongside local trans organizations.

Today, more than ever, faith communities are stepping up to create intentional safe places for our LGBTQ+ community members of faith to practice in. While faith is not important to everyone in the q***r community, while it has historically harm people in it, keep in mind that it is incredibly important to some q***r people and they deserve a place to worship safely and this is one of those places. And having communities to practice their faith alongside others is so essential and important.

You can still check out the event on Youtube and Facebook. If you think it is important, please share it with family and loved ones! You can check out this sponsors video directly on my website, under the Raise the Trans Flag tab! And thank you First Congregational United Church of Christ Moorhead for all you do.

Last night, while most of us were asleep, someone in our community was able to get food because of a little cart in a church parking lot.

That cart is Ruth’s Food Cart—and it’s a simple, everyday way we try to live out Jesus’ call to care for our neighbors. It’s open 24 hours a day, with no forms, no questions, and no barriers—just food available whenever someone needs it.

What makes it possible isn’t just shelves and canned goods—it’s people. Volunteers who quietly stock it. Donors who drop off groceries. Neighbors who show up in small, faithful ways to make sure no one goes hungry.

Because of them, a parent can feed their kids, someone can find a meal after a long shift, and a person having a hard week can feel God’s love in a practical, tangible way.

Today I want to celebrate everyone who has helped make Ruth’s Food Cart a living expression of compassion—and invite others to join in. If you’re looking for a simple way to put faith into action, consider donating, dropping off a few items, or sharing this post.

This is what loving our neighbor looks like.

Each month, UCC experts unpack a complex justice issue through our Getting to the Root series. This Black History Month, Rev. Dr. Velda Love, United Church of Christ Minister for Racial Justice, reflects on the legacy of the 2020 George Floyd protests, their connection to current anti-ICE resistance in Minneapolis, and how Jesus’ call to justice can guide us through these challenging times.

May the joy which overcomes fear be contagious among us this holy season. May the light of the Christ child be known again as glory and treasure to you, and to all who have need to receive it. May God's love be upon you.
