Think we need a similar policy??!?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Our Children’s Policy at St. John
We wanted to make sure everyone is aware of our policy regarding children in church:
If your kids are loud, please still come to church.
If you’re running late because getting everyone out the door was a battle, please still come to church.
If your toddler won’t sit still, please still come to church.
If your baby needs to eat, please still come to church.
If your child asks questions at the least convenient time, please still come to church.
If someone cries, drops a toy, needs a snack, or has to make their third trip to the bathroom, please still come to church.
If your child doesn’t know all the words, all the prayers, or exactly when to sit and stand, please still come to church.
If you feel like you spent the entire service managing your children and heard approximately 12% of the sermon, please still come to church.
If Sunday morning feels messy instead of peaceful, please still come to church.
If you’re worried your children are distracting the people around you, please still come to church.

Because children do not learn how to be part of the Church by staying home until they can sit quietly.

They learn by being here.
They learn the hymns by hearing us sing them.
They learn the prayers by hearing us pray them.
They learn to worship by watching us worship.
They learn that church is home because we make room for them here.

The wiggles, whispers, dropped crayons, crying babies, and little voices are not interruptions to the life of the Church.

They are evidence that the Church is alive.

So bring the babies. Bring the toddlers. Bring the big kids. Come late. Sit in the back. Sit in the front. Step out when you need to and come right back in.

Just come.
Children are not simply the future of the Church. They are part of the Church right now.
And at St. John, there is a place for them here.

Feel like hearing some good news?

Bethlehem is facing replacing our organ. The original cost would have been $190,000. Due to seemingly miraculous circumstances, the price has lowered by $50,000 down to $140,000. We would be able to purchase an organ that is already partially made instead of the full price.

There is only one question: Do we? Yes or no?

We're officially asking that question NEXT SUNDAY, September 6th, during announcements as a special voters meeting. Please, be there.

If you have any questions or comments or pledges to support this purchase, please contact Pastor Josh Schmidt at (314) 261-3180 or [email protected].

Right now we already have $14,010 pledges in hand to help pay for the organ with up to $50,000 matching.

The interest on our Endowment Fund also seems pretty healthy.

God is surely blessing us above and beyond what we could have ever imagined.

This fall, we have plenty of opportunities to get together!

As we explore God's various, multi-faceted, gifts in worship together, we get to be a gift to each other, living in the life that the Resurrected Lord has given to us.

Highlights coming up are, Community Potlucks every Wednesday at 6pm--here's your chance to invite your friend who might be too new to the faith to come on Sunday, it is a family and outreach-geared focus. Men's Bible Study every Thursday at 6:30pm--grab your Bible and get together as we go through the book of Romans. Book Club is also going on, we will probably move onto our next book before the end of the season. There's Kid's Camp; a videogame tournament; your chance to Dunk the Pastor at Merrill Gardens on September 23rd at 3pm, to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association; birthdays; and OCTOBERFEST (OCT. 25TH, 11:30AM-1:00PM).

For the full quarterly, send me an email at [email protected] or ask for a copy from our office.

God's peace & richest blessings today and always,
Pastor Josh Schmidt
