We are half way there!!!
Our children have been taught from an early age the importance of acts of goodness and kindness. This is especially true on one's birthday. Last week our youngest two turned 5 & accompanied their older siblings giving out food packages & challas to the elderly who are especially vulnerable during this pandemic.
There is nothing more meaningful to the elderly to be remembered by children.

"It's my 94th birthday"
Rabbi Alexander Milchtein received a phone call from "Yosef". He said "it's my 94th birthday today. I have no relatives here and no one to share this with. It's first year that I don't celebrate. I wanted at least to let you know." Every night, the children deliver latkes, candles and food essentials to the elderly. No one should feel alone at this time.

For 26 years my wife Ester Riva Milchtein and I have run a food pantry at the Milwaukee Synagogue for Russian Jews. Our commitment to help is even more now as we have been making food deliveries to the elderly. Due to a lack of infrastructure that supports a mobile food pantry, our resources are being strained. We all are facing unprecedented financial and emotional pressure because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The most vulnerable community though are the elderly. Chanukah is a few short days away. In better times we would make celebrations for the festival of lights in multiple locations. This year, we are committed to bringing Chanukah to the homes of the elderly. Our commitment to help is even more now as we have been making food deliveries to the elderly. Due to a lack of infrastructure that supports a mobile food pantry, our resources are being strained.

We all are facing unprecedented financial and emotional pressure because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The most vulnerable community though are the elderly. Passover is also little over a week away. In better times we made a passover sedar in multiple locations. This year, we are committed to delivering matza and passover food.
