Right now, we are seeing an exponential increase in threats to the safety of many in our community, including trans and q***r folks and immigrants. But together, we keep us safe. We are called to build networks of resistance and care for the most vulnerable.
Zao has heard the call, and we hope you have too. As we’ve shared, Zao will be moving to a new model of ministry in the next season. We’ll be transitioning from a single-site, traditional church to an interconnected network of house churches, which we’re calling “harbors.”
This model, and the depth of community we’ve already created, uniquely positions Zao to reach those most in need of connection and safety in this moment. This potential now extends beyond Milwaukee across the country and world. These harbors are intended as places of deep community building, justice work, and sanctuary for the oppressed and marginalized.
We want to build a firm and sustainable foundation for this network of safe harbors, and to do that we need resources. We’re asking those who believe in this vision to step up through tangible support. During this Easter season, between now and Pentecost on May 24th, a generous friend of Zao has offered to match up to $10,000 in funds raised by our community.
The majority of our budget goes towards paying the people who are laboring to lead us into next season of Zao's ministry, and those funds come almost exclusively from what we raise in individual donations. That means that in order to build what our community needs in this moment, we need you. Will you help us build safe harbors by making a donation today? Give here: zaomke.org/give
