🎙️ NEW EPISODE | VOICES OF GESU

What does it mean to hear God calling you to something more?

In our newest episode of Voices of Gesu: Stories of Faith, Spirit, and City, we sit down with two young men at different points on their journey of discernment.

William deGuzman, a senior at Marquette University, is currently discerning his vocation and applying to enter the Society of Jesus.

Ryan Bender, a recent Marquette University graduate, has taken that next step and has now entered the Jesuits.

Together, William and Ryan share what first drew them toward the Society of Jesus, what it means to discern a vocation in today's world, the questions and uncertainties that come with saying “yes,” and the role faith, Marquette, and the Jesuit community have played along the way.

At a time when we often hear about declining vocations, their stories are a beautiful reminder that God is still calling. Young people are still listening. And the Spirit is still at work.

🎧 Listen, follow, and share Voices of Gesu wherever you listen to podcasts, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

And perhaps their stories will
encourage each of us to ask:

Where is God calling me?

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Monica, a mother whose steadfast faith reminds us of the power of prayer, perseverance, and hope.

For years, Monica prayed for her son Augustine, never giving up hope that God was at work in his life. Her prayers were eventually answered in ways she could hardly have imagined, as Augustine returned to the faith and became one of the Church’s great saints.

St. Monica offers a beautiful reminder to all of us who carry someone we love in prayer: keep praying, keep trusting, and never underestimate what God can do in a person’s heart.

Today, we especially pray for parents and grandparents, for those worried about a child or loved one, and for anyone patiently waiting for an answer to a prayer.

St. Monica, pray for us. 💙

Welcome to our newest parishioners, Marquette University Class of 2030! 💙💛

As thousands of new students arrive on Marquette University's campus, we are especially excited to welcome them as the newest parishioners of the Church of the Gesu.

While Gesu is an independent Jesuit parish, separate from Marquette University, the university campus lies within our parish boundaries. That means when you arrive at Marquette, Gesu becomes your parish home.

For generations of Marquette students and alumni, Gesu has been a place to worship, pray, celebrate life's milestones, find community, and return to long after graduation.

Class of 2030, we hope you will make Gesu part of your story, not only throughout your next four years at Marquette, but throughout the rest of your lives.

Our doors are open. Come to Mass. Stop in to pray. Get involved. Come as you are. You are already one of us, and you will always have a home at Gesu.

Welcome to Marquette, Class of 2030, and most especially, welcome to your parish. Welcome to Gesu. 💙💛

💙💛 Welcome, Marquette University Class of 2030!

The Church of the Gesu is excited to welcome Marquette’s newest students to campus and to Gesu!

As you begin this new chapter, we hope Gesu will become a place where you feel at home — a place to pray, celebrate Mass, find community, ask questions, and grow in your faith throughout your years at Marquette.

We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2030 tonight for the Marquette University Orientation Mass at 6:00 PM.

May God bless each of you as you begin this exciting journey. Know that the doors of Gesu are always open to you.

Welcome to Marquette. Welcome to Milwaukee. And welcome to Gesu! 💙💛

A Message from Fr. Yves, St. Simon & Jude, Haiti 🇭🇹

We are grateful to share this special message from Fr. Yves and our brothers and sisters at St. Simon & Jude in Haiti.

In his message, Fr. Yves expresses his gratitude for the support that helps their community continue to move forward and reminds us of the difference we can make when we stand together in faith and solidarity.

Our relationship with St. Simon & Jude is a beautiful reminder that the Church extends far beyond the walls of Gesu. We are one faith community, called to accompany one another, pray for one another, and help one another carry life's crosses.

Please take a moment to listen to Fr. Yves' message and continue to keep the people of St. Simon & Jude and all those in Haiti in your prayers.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this important partnership. Together, we can make a difference. ❤️

Our next episode drops August 31, and it is one you won't want to miss.

We sit down with two young men at very different points in their vocational journeys: Ryan Bender, a recent Marquette University graduate who has now entered the Society of Jesus, and Will deGuzman, a Milwaukee native and current Marquette University senior who is discerning a possible calling to the Jesuits.

What does it mean to feel called by God in today's world? How do we recognize that calling? And perhaps most importantly, how do we find the courage to respond?

It is a wonderful and very real conversation about faith, discernment, vocation, and listening for where God may be leading us.

🎙️ Listen. Follow. Share.
