What an incredible weekend here at Gesu as we celebrated the ordination of nine new Jesuit priests of the Midwest Province.

It was a beautiful and grace-filled ceremony to witness, bringing together family, friends, fellow Jesuits, and members of the wider faith community to celebrate God's call and these men's generous response.

Please keep these nine newly ordained Jesuits in your prayers as they embark upon this next chapter of their vocations and ministries. May God bless them abundantly as they serve the Church and the world in the Jesuit tradition.

We are also pleased to share that a recording of the Ordination Mass is available for anyone who wishes to view this special celebration:

A powerful gathering of generations.

Pictured are Jesuits who were ordained at the Church of the Gesu and returned to Milwaukee this past weekend for the ordination of nine new Jesuit priests. Many were also present for Friday evening's Jubilarian Mass, where we gave thanks for their years of faithful service and celebrated the enduring legacy of Jesuit vocations.

Their presence served as a beautiful reminder that the story of a vocation does not end at ordination. It continues through decades of ministry, service, leadership, and accompaniment, touching countless lives around the world.

We are grateful for their witness and for the rich Jesuit heritage that continues to thrive at Gesu.

Feel the joy. Feel the hope. Feel the Spirit. 🎉

This past weekend, the Church of the Gesu was blessed to host the ordination of nine new Jesuit priests for the USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus.

In a world that often focuses on what is declining, this celebration was a powerful reminder that God is still calling, hearts are still responding, and the Jesuit mission is alive and thriving.

To witness nine men dedicate their lives to serving Christ and His Church was both humbling and inspiring. The joy, faith, and gratitude present throughout the weekend were truly contagious.

Please join us in praying for these newly ordained priests as they begin their ministries and continue the Jesuit tradition of faith, service, justice, and accompaniment.

What a blessing it was for Gesu to be part of this sacred moment.

❤️ Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus ❤️

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a reminder of Christ's boundless love, mercy, and compassion for all humanity.

Featured here is a unique and beautiful depiction of the Sacred Heart painted by Father William Kurz, S.J., a beloved Jesuit priest, artist, and longtime professor at Marquette University. Father Kurz taught New Testament studies for more than four decades, inspiring generations of students through both his scholarship and his faith.

His artwork, like his teaching, invites us to look more deeply into the mysteries of God's love. This striking interpretation of the Sacred Heart reminds us that Christ's heart remains open to all, offering comfort, healing, forgiveness, and hope.

As we celebrate this feast day, let us take a moment to reflect on the immense love of Christ and ask for the grace to share that love with those we encounter each day.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

⭐ Friday Feature: Jimmy Beltran ⭐

As the school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank Jimmy Beltran, our Cristo Rey Jesuit High School student worker.

Jimmy has been a wonderful addition to the Church of the Gesu team this year. Whether helping behind the scenes in the office, assisting with projects, or simply bringing a positive attitude to every task, Jimmy consistently impressed us with his work ethic, professionalism, and willingness to help wherever needed.

Most importantly, he became part of our Gesu family, and we will truly miss seeing him around the office next year.

For those organizations that have partnered with Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, you already know what a gift these students are. They bring talent, enthusiasm, fresh perspectives, and a desire to learn that enriches everyone around them.

And for those who have not yet partnered with Cristo Rey, we encourage you to consider it. The experience is not only beneficial for the students, but also for the organizations fortunate enough to work alongside them.

Thank you, Jimmy, for all you contributed to Gesu this year. We are grateful for your time with us and wish you continued success in all that lies ahead. We know great things are in your future!

Come, Holy Spirit!

Last week, our Gesu Confirmation candidates joined young people from nine other Milwaukee-area parishes and faith communities at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and be sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Together with candidates from Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, St. Michael & St. Rose, Saint Francis of Assisi, St. Sebastian, St. Therese, Old St. Mary's, Three Holy Women, Saints Peter and Paul, and Our Lady of Divine Providence, our young people took an important step in their faith journey and embraced a deeper commitment to Christ and His Church.

The first photo features Gesu's 2026 Confirmands, while the second captures the larger community of newly confirmed young people from 10 parishes and faith communities across Milwaukee who celebrated this special day together.

We are incredibly proud of our confirmands and grateful to their families, sponsors, catechists, and all who have accompanied them along the way.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide them with wisdom, understanding, courage, and a deep love for Christ and His Church as they discover how God is calling them to share their gifts with the world.

Please join us in praying for these young disciples as they continue their journey of faith.

✨ Congratulations, Confirmands! ✨

No, Gesu is not going anywhere.

But ensuring that this sacred place remains a vibrant center of faith, service, and community for generations to come requires all of us.

As a self-funded Archdiocese of Milwaukee parish, Gesu relies on the generosity of parishioners, alumni, friends, and benefactors to sustain our mission. We do not receive financial support from Marquette University, the Jesuits, or the Archdiocese for our day to day operations or capital needs.

For more than 130 years, the Church of the Gesu has been a landmark on Milwaukee's skyline and a beacon of faith, beauty, and service in the heart of our city.

But Gesu is more than bricks and mortar.

It is where students discover their faith. Where families celebrate baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Where parishioners gather in prayer. Where neighbors find community. Where those in need encounter compassion, hope, and support.

Through the Together for Gesu campaign, we are preserving this sacred place while also strengthening our ability to serve future generations through expanded ministries, outreach, and care for our community.

Today, thanks to the generosity of so many supporters, we have raised $3.6 million toward our $10 million goal. While we have made tremendous progress, there is still important work ahead.

The future of Gesu depends on all of us.

Whether through prayer, volunteering, sharing our mission, or making a financial gift, you can help ensure that Gesu remains a vibrant presence in Milwaukee for generations to come.

Together, we can restore beauty, ignite spirit, and strengthen the mission of Gesu.
