St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Mission: Transforming lives through meaningful relationships with God in Jesus Christ. St. Mark's is a warm and welcoming congregation on Milwaukee's East Side.

We are a vibrant community of sojourners and seekers who represent a diverse array of backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences. All are welcome! Mark's is a beautiful church both within its friendly parish and aesthetic stature. The church is nearly 125 years old and of the Gothic style with high-vaulted ceilings with wooden trusses. Stained glass windows line the aisles. Seating capacity in

the church is 220, additionally, the chapel seats 20. Outside, cloisters enclose a courtyard garden. The courtyard is a peaceful, beautiful place beloved by many in the community. Sunday services are at 8 & 10 a.m. in person. Throughout the school year, Sunday School meets during the first half of the 10 a.m. service, ending in time for the children to join their parents at Communion. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion, no matter which church you might belong to. Following Sunday worship services, we gather for coffee, refreshments and conversation. Visitors are always welcome! Our parish prioritizes the sharing of our time, talents and resources with individuals and communities in need. We have a number of community events, like the Downer Classic Corn Roast in summer and a pumpkin sale in fall, where proceeds go to local and international non-profits. For more information, please contact the church office at 414-962-0500. All are welcome at St. Mark's!

The Downer Classic Bike Races are coming up on June 27, and we're planning to have a bake sale during the races again. We need your help!

This year, our treat tent will be open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. We are looking for a few volunteers to help set up and take down the tent and tables, as well as staff the sale. More importantly, we are looking for bakers who will fill the tables.

Be Still: An Evening of Contemplative Prayer — Friday, June 5, at 7 p.m. (Church)

Join us Friday evening for our monthly Be Still contemplative prayer service. Patterned on the liturgies of the Taizé community in France, it is evening prayer for all Christian faiths. The service, lasting about 45 minutes, is a wonderful opportunity to shed the stress of the week. We hope to see you there!

The 20s and 30s of St. Mark's and St. Luke's are invited to join us for what will be a fun and festive BBQ. As we come to the end of an academic year and program year, and embrace a summer pace, we have much to celebrate and be thankful for. We also will be sending off our young adult & campus minister, Nate Irvine, and his family as they begin a new chapter of ministry in Burlington, Wisconsin, at St. John the Divine starting in June. It would be great to see you all there to hang out one last time together.

Most of this food and drink will be provided for by St. Mark's, but in the words of the grill master (aka Rev. Don), if you brought a side dish, that would be fantastic! And if you have a favorite beverage you wish to sip or share, feel free to bring that as well.
