-counseling sessions $600 (6 sessions)
-auto repair for one lady $235
-rent help for 3 women $100, $210, $400
-medical fees not covered for a few women @$338
-natural supplements for a few women @$250…not covered by insurance
-trip help for a mom visiting with child (reunification) $300 still needed

We could really use gift cards for local grocery or grocery discount stores, fuel stores and local fast food style restaurants. These things help us provide food for the women and children we serve. They also help provide a sense of independence, which often has been robbed from them. These items can be sent to our ministry address listed in this post, emailed or texted to our ministry or we can meet locally.

I used to hate it when people said, “God is using this.” Because when you’re hurting, you don’t want a lesson. You want relief. You want the anxiety to stop, the grief to ease,the diagnosis to change, the relationship restored, the season to end.

I know because I’ve prayed those prayers myself.

Not once or twice. Hundreds of times.

There have been seasons where I begged God to take things away. Seasons where I was convinced life would finally begin once the struggle was over. Once I healed. Once the pain eased. Once my mind settled down. Once I felt like myself again.

But the longer I walk with Jesus, the more I realise some of the deepest things He has grown in me came from the very places I wanted to escape.

Not because the pain was good. Not because I enjoyed the struggle. And certainly not because I would choose those seasons again.

But because God refused to leave me there alone.

I met Him in those places.

Not the polished version of faith people like to talk about. The real version. The one that whispers prayers through tears. The one that opens the Bible and feels nothing but reads it anyway. The one that keeps showing up when it would be easier to quit.

The one that says, “Jesus, I don’t understand what You’re doing, but I’m still here.”

Looking back now, I can see my faith didn’t grow despite those seasons. It grew there, right in the middle of them.

And truth… I don’t think I would know God the way I know Him now if He had answered every prayer the moment I prayed it.

That can be hard to admit.

Because there are still things I ask Him to take away. Still prayers I wish He would answer differently. Still seasons I wouldn’t have chosen for myself.

But when I look back over my life, the strongest parts of my faith were not built on the mountaintops.

They were built in the valleys I begged God to remove.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18

Yes!

What if "keeping the peace" is just a churchy way of saying, "don't talk about the abuse"?

One of the most common ways abuse is protected in church spaces is through the language of peace.

"Be the bigger person."
"Don't cause division."
"We need unity."
"Let's move forward."
"Live at peace with everyone."

But biblical peace was never about protecting those who cause harm.
The Hebrew idea of shalom is not the absence of conflict. It is the presence of justice, safety, wholeness, and right relationships.

A church can be quiet and still be unsafe.
A church can appear unified while victims are suffering in silence.
A church can call it peace while survivors are carrying the cost.

When someone speaks up about abuse, manipulation, or misconduct, they are not the one disrupting peace.

The person causing harm disrupted peace long before the truth was ever spoken.
Peace without safety isn't peace.

How many times were you told to "keep the peace" when what was really being protected was a person, a leader, or an institution?
