I did not write an update for Wednesday. The day camp went well and Wednesday afternoon/evening is our trip to Harrington Manor State Park. Many of us go kayaking and paddleboarding…and getting dumped in the lake…It’s a lot of fun. The park is beautiful and this year Diane made a dozen different varieties of fudge and cookies for us to sample…or overindulge. Would having 14 different fudge/cookies be too much???

Thursday was very similar to Wednesday in terms of our day camp. Everything went well. Back on Monday I asked you to pray for Deb and Abby, who had two very challenging boys in their group. One of those boys was switched to a different group and both of the boys are doing very well. They are participating and there has been little to no problems with them. Thanks for praying. I think the right solution was revealed to the leadership here and now both of those boys…and their shepherds…have had an enjoyable experience.

I think the only group I’ve left off discussing is the craft group. This group is led by Stacy Mast and Stacy is assisted by Jenny Delong and Darcy Reitenbach. It’s not always easy to keep the kids engaged in doing a craft but they do an excellent job. Oh, I also forgot to mention that Mandy Reid, Miriam Hoover and Abby White are leading the songs, and Ben Reimer and Clayton Frank are doing the skit. They are all doing an excellent job.

Most VBS curricula set aside Thursday to focus on the resurrection of Jesus. That was our focus today in the Bible time and also in Sticky Scriptures. It’s a privilege to try to explain the gospel to children. We pray that the seeds that are planted will sprout into saving faith.

The weather here has been amazing. We were able to go to the pool all four days. The children were very happy to be in the pool and the leaders enjoy swimming with them and playing with them.

After dinner we sang a few songs and had a very interesting devotion led by Stacy Reitenbach. I think I mentioned early in the week that 27 of the 29 people in our group this year have been at Westernport for at least one year. Several of us have been here for all 11 years. Stacy asked each person to write down one or two reasons why we keep coming back and then had several scriptures read which fit the reasons given. It was really interesting to connect the reasons that people gave with the biblical text. This really is a special week!
