Prayer For Heroic Service (BCP)

O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This

Today, more than 20 children and youth at Manakin shared their faith and talents during a youth service. During the service, they helped usher, provided music, read liturgy and prayers, and more. Five Manakin members who are celebrating their high school graduations also were honored. Thank you to everyone who made this service so special!

Manakin welcomed Dr. Wendy LeBolt for a forum discussing how God made us to move. Wendy, author of Made to Move: Knowing and Loving God Through our Bodies, shared what inspired her to write the book. “It occurred to me, if God was going to speak to me, he’d probably speak to the person he created,” she said. So, she decided to explore how God’s Word connects to our heart, soul, mind and senses. During the forum, Wendy shared excerpts from her book, including scripture and her observations, and discussed how the book was created to help people connect with God in different ways. She helped attendees explore one of those connections by using resistance bands and simple movements linked to song.
