The church needs an overhaul 🔥😭🤦🏾♂️😩
BREAKING: A Jacksonville minister has pleaded guilty to obstructing the IRS in an effort to avoid paying more than $600,000 in federal taxes.
According to court documents, Brian Carn Jr. operated a ministry under multiple names, including Healing House Ministries, Brian Carn Ministries, and Kingdom Culture City Churches. In 2016, he filed a tax return that correctly reported he earned more than $1.4 million and owed over $600K in taxes but prosecutors say he didn’t pay it.
When the IRS moved to collect by placing liens on properties and trying to levy bank accounts, Carn allegedly amended that return and falsely removed nearly $1.3 million in income. Authorities say he hired a new accountant and provided a fictitious backdated employment agreement claiming a $120,000 salary plus a $24,000 parsonage allowance, and represented that was all he made that year, despite using much higher income figures elsewhere on credit and financial applications.
Prosecutors say he continued filing returns that drastically underreported his income, then stopped filing altogether in 2020 while still earning money and using ministry funds to cover personal expenses. The government also alleges he made false statements and left out key information to conceal assets and income while the IRS tried to collect.
Officials say the loss to the United States falls between $550,000 and $1.5 million. He faces up to three years in prison. IRS Criminal Investigation is handling the case.
