Our Very Own… Sis Pickens

This month's staff feature is Alexis Pickens, a registered sonographer in our imaging department.

Alexis has been with the Radiology Department at Cooper Green for eight years. She likes working at Cooper Green because she loves the team she works with in Radiology. They all respect each other and help each other out in any way they can. Alexis says that being an ultrasound technician/sonographer is one the best career choices she’s made. Not everyone realizes how much is involved in being an ultrasound technician and the vast range of services they provide.

Alexis says her patients often come to their appointments scared and unaware of what to expect, and as someone who has been on the patient side, she tries to ease their worries by educating them about testing and other matters. She also tries to instill confidence in patients, to help put them at ease while waiting on test results. Alexis understands that no one likes going to the doctor, so she tries to make a small difference by being a smiling face for residents of Jefferson County. Her life motto is, “Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you.”

When Alexis isn’t at Cooper Green, she enjoys spending time with her husband, LaDerian Pickens, and her kids, Hikeem and Devin. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!).

Thank you, Alexis, for being a valuable member of our Cooper Green team.
