What. A. Day. Backpacks & BBQ 2026 is in the books.

This past Sunday, we had the privilege of feasting with and blessing 300+ of our neighbors--thanks to the generosity and leaning in of so many. What a great afternoon spent eating, laughing, and connecting with our community!

Each year sees more partnerships with organizations and churches who are all-in on meeting real needs in Middletown. Let's keep leaning in together--the best is yet to be!

Final instructions for Backpacks & BBQ (Sunday, August 2 at 4:00pm) here at Middletown Nazarene Church!

Parking is available on the street and at the Breitenbach-Anderson Funeral Home at 517 S. Sutphin for guests and volunteers. Our front parking lot is reserved for vendors and community partners, while our back lot and alley are reserved for people who need assistance into our building.

Kona Ice will be available from 4:00-6:00 and will be free for children! Please do not bring it into the building; finish and throw away the cups either outside, or get it after you get the backpack.

As always, backpacks are only for children present at the event.

Finally, please do not come to our event and collect signatures or ask people to sign your petition. This is an event for children. Please keep the focus of this event on our mission, which is serving the kids in our community.

🌳📚 Story Time Under the Tree @ MiddNaz! 📚🌳

Looking for a fun, free way to break up the Tuesday morning routine with the kids? Come hang out with us for our 4-week story time series this July!

We all know that children become better readers just by reading a lot, so we want to help kick-start that love for books. Bring your family out for a laid-back morning of reading stories and singing songs together.

The best part? Every child leaves with a free book to keep each week!

When: Tuesdays at 11:00 AM
Dates: July 7, 14, 21, and 28
Where: Middletown Nazarene

This is a special service announcement from your friendly Backpacks and BBQ team:

We need cases of water! It’s hot outside during this event. We give away a LOT of water bottles to keep people hydrated.

We would appreciate any and all donations of cases of water; just drop them off at the church and leave in the front foyer or in the gym. We only have 2 weeks to go and Backpack Sunday will be upon us!

Alright everybody, we are just over two weeks away from our annual Backpacks & BBQ event and we have so much planned for you on August 2, right here at Middletown Nazarene Church at 4:00pm!

On top of free backpacks for your students and delicious food, you can expect:

- Free tickets from the Cincinnati Reds, Dayton Dragons, and Cincinnati Zoo to be given away in live drawings (so hold onto those meal tickets!).
- FREE Kona Ice for 350 people.
- MidPointe Library will be here again with a prize wheel and you can sign up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for free books!
- Monarch Designs will be here with a craft table, free for the kids.
- MetroParks of Butler County will have a fun learning table.
- Representatives from FC Cincinnati will be here!
- Free comic books for the kids again this year, so a big thank you goes out to our anonymous donor!
- Free dental supplies in every backpack, courtesy of MK&C Dental Group- Middletown.

If that wasn't enough, we'll have organizations on hand to provide help with wellness and hope, like Supports to Encourage Low-income Families (SELF), MomsHope, HopeLine and more; all thanks to our partnership with The Bridge: A Middletown Resource Network.

To put it simply - you DO NOT want to miss this one!

We're looking forward to hosting this 5-week workshop provided by Counseling Alliance, LLC--and we can't wait to see how God uses these sessions to help us understand more about who we were made to be. There is financial assistance available, so don't let that keep you from joining--just shoot us a message.
