Thank you to everyone who helped beautify our cemetery last weekend! Many hands make light work, and we were able to completely label cemetery rows, as well as scrape and paint both driveway entrance gates.
This event was co-sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford, Valley Beit Midrash, and Adath Israel's Chevra Kadisha. Thank you also to our event partners, Mem Global's Moishe House Without Walls, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford's Emerging Leadership program.

Last week's Challah Baking Class was a success! Attendees tried a variety of different braids, and all brought home beautiful golden loaves.

A huge thank you to our challah chef Rob Goldstein! And to Rabbi Nelly for teaching us about the significance of challah!

Which challah shape/braid is your favorite?

It was wonderful to host a group from the North Atlantic Region of the Women's League for Conservative Judaism for a tour of Adath Israel's Judaica Museum! Stephen Shapiro was our tour guide, and he did a wonderful job sharing the history of each item with us.

If you are interested in a museum tour for your group, please email [email protected].

One week away! Tikkun Leil Shavuot - Thursday, May 21st at 7:30pm

At the Threshold: Jewish Reactions to Turning Points with Rabbi Nelly & Wesleyan University's Rabbi David

Just like this very moment – in every generation, Jews have stood at a threshold, a moment when things change and a response must be found. Through art, text and discussion we will explore four such turning points. General wisdom from our tradition for times of crisis, the visual argument made by Jewish artists in medieval Spain who claimed the sacred against a dominant culture, the Kabbalistic map of the soul's own growth and transformation, and what it means to have a legacy of wandering. Four conversations, one question: when history, image, and inner life demand a response, what does it mean to answer as a Jew? RSVPs to [email protected] are appreciated.
