Good morning members and friends. I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe in the heat and humidity. Please check on your loved ones and friends to make sure they are ok too.

In this weeks Gospel one line jumps out at me and we hear it often. I’m not going to tell you what line but I’ll bet you can guess.

Have you ever felt like you’re the only person on a deserted island or the one lost in Times Square? Has your spouse died and now you’re trying to navigate life alone? Are you the sheep who Jesus left the others just to come find you? Sometimes life is so overwhelming that it seems impossible to continue. Loneliness is a reality for a lot of people. Even the very faithful might feel that God has forgotten them. Jesus says to us “come to Me you are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). It’s an invitation to turn to Him and find refuge. What better way to do that but come to worship and let God and the congregation give you peace and strength.

You are NOT alone ever! God is always present with us and in us. All we need to do is breathe in His presence and let Him do the rest. I hope to see all of you at church because…you just might hear what line I’m talking about!

We invite you to worship with us this weekend. Service time are 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Holy communion is offered at both services and open to all.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9th our next giveback is at Swingbellies. Come and join us in great food and fellowship.

Saturday, September 12th is our Pancake breakfast complete with pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage for $5.00. Invite your family and friends to join us as this is open to everyone.

There’s more to talk about but I’ve kept you long enough today, so I’ll write more soon.

Dear Members and Friends,

Somehow Friday snuck up on me and I realized I hadn’t written anything this week. I’m sorry about that.

We invite you to worship with us this weekend when the Gospel will focus on Jesus telling His disciples that His ministry here on earth will end soon. We will hear the familiar words of Jesus-“If anyone wants to be My followers, take up your cross and follow Me.” Are we willing to take up our cross?

Service times are 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Holy Communion will be offered at both services and is open to all. Cole Ponder will be confirmed at the Saturday night service.

This is the last weekend for contributions to our August Mission of Donor’s Choose for the Michigan City Area Schools. Please be generous.

Coming up in September are the following events:
Wednesday, September 9 at Swingbellies. Hope to see every one there.

September 12th from 8:30-11:00 a.m. is our pancake breakfast open to all. Come and enjoy pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice, all for $5.00.

September 19th we will host one of the stops for the Stained Glass Window tour. For more information please see the bulletin.

Dear members and friends, all I can say is wow. What a week we have had! I pray that you all have power back and little or no damage from the derecho. We survived 6 days without it. We had it easy compared to those without city water and sanitation. Now we wait for the tree service to remove 6 trees that we lost.

I would like to apologize to those who had a birthday and didn’t get a card. It’s not that I forgot or you’re not remembered and loved, it was a little dark in my craft room. 🔦🔦

We invite you to worship with us this weekend. Service times are 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Holy communion is offered to all who want to receive it. This weekend we will hear of how the church was built on the rock of Peter’s faith and how we should use our individual gifts to build up the body of Christ.

Believe it or not, there’s nothing on the church calendar to report on. The executive team and the council will be meeting with the Bishop on August 27th about the call process and how to begin.

The mission of the month for September is Shriners Children’s Hospital. Little Maggie B. is currently receiving care from them and when my first child was born with a rare birth defect in 1976, Shriners was the first to meet with us offering financial assistance if needed. They provide care no matter your ability to pay or insurance status. Please see the bulletin for more details and give generously.
