¿Qué es la Transfiguración?

La Transfiguración es uno de los episodios clave en la vida de Jesús. El Señor tomó a tres apóstoles –Pedro, Santiago y Juan- y subió con ellos a un monte a orar. Mientras rezaban, la apariencia de Jesús cambió y sus vestiduras se volvieron de una “blancura fulgurante”. En ese momento, se aparecieron Moisés y Elías y hablaban con el Señor sobre Su muerte inminente. Una nube cubrió a todos y se oyó la voz de Dios Padre que desde la nube decía: “Este es mi Hijo, mi Elegido; escuchadle”.

La Iglesia celebra la Fiesta de la Transfiguración el día 6 de agosto.

Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, when Christ Jesus, the beloved Only Begotten Son of the Eternal Father, in the presence of the holy Apostles Peter, James, and John, with the Law and the Prophets as witnesses, made his glory manifest, so that, in the humility of our servile form which he took to himself, he might signify our glorious renewal through grace, and the image of God, in which man was created, once deformed in Adam and reformed in Christ, might be proclaimed even to the ends of the earth.
