We spend so much energy protecting what we have. Our reputation, our comfort, our plans, our security. And yet, the tighter we hold on, the more anxious and hollow life can feel.

Is there something you are holding onto so tightly that it might be keeping you from fully trusting Jesus with your life?

When we release our grip and follow Jesus, we do not lose. We gain. We find the life we were always searching for. And what awaits those who follow Him is not a wage they have earned but an inheritance kept in heaven, imperishable and unfading. You were made for more than what this world offers. Let go, and find it.

Your faith is not a trophy you earned. It is a gift you received.

Jesus said something to Peter (Matthew 16:17) that should stop us in our tracks. When Peter declared that Jesus was the Messiah, Jesus replied that flesh and blood had not revealed this to Him. God the Father had. In other words, Peter did not figure it out. It was given to him.

Father, thank You for opening our eyes to see who Jesus is. We did not find You on our own. You found us. Help us hold our faith with gratitude rather than pride. Amen.

Jesus asked one of the most personal questions anyone could ever face. Not "what are people saying about me?" but "who do YOU say I am?" It is easy to talk about Jesus in general terms. We can quote what others believe, repeat what we have heard in church, or describe Him through the lens of history. But Jesus is not interested in secondhand opinions. He wants to know what you think. What you believe. What you have personally concluded about Him.

Jesus is not asking this question to trap you. He is asking because He wants a real relationship with you, not a religious transaction. He wants your honest heart, not a polished answer. You do not have to have everything figured out. You just have to be honest. Where you are right now, with whatever faith or doubt you carry, Jesus is asking you the same question He asked Peter. And He is patient enough to wait for your genuine answer.
