Pastor Sarah Jean Jones received the baptism in Jesus name and the Holy Ghost shortly after her husband under the leadership of Elder Joe Clark, pastor of Lighthouse Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in 1969. After Bishop Jones’ call to the ministry and ordination, the couple worked faithfully together. They witnessed, laid hands on the sick, ministered to the incarcerated and saw miracles performed
. They established the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in their home; moved to a storefront; then to 829 Lewis Street and later to its present location at 2993 Park Avenue, Memphis, TN 38114. Pastor Sarah Jones has worked diligently and tirelessly in many capacities by spearheading many of our present auxiliaries; such were the choirs, the Women’s Auxiliary, the Hospitality and Ushers Committee, the Sunday School Dept, and many, many others. She was later called into the ministry and was ordained. The couple were the pastors of Grace Apostolic church in Oxford, MS. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is the mother church to many other churches in the Memphis and suburban areas whose pastors were saved under their leadership. They joined the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and worked faithfully with the Mississippi and Western Tennessee District (formally the Southern Tri-State) where she worked on the Grievance Committee and as the president of the Minister’s Wives until January 2012, and faithfully attends the council meetings and conventions. She has received her Fellowship License with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. After the sudden loss of her beloved husband and best friend of forty-five years in April 2009, she became the pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ where she has served faithfully for the past 42 years. She has not missed a beat; the following Sunday after her loss, she was in the pulpit preaching the Word. To date, she continues the legacy (Chosen and Ordained) of teaching and preaching the Original Apostolic Faith Doctrine (repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name and the Gift of the Holy Ghost), empowering God’s people and serving the community by doing missions in homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities, feeding and providing clothes to those in need, traveling to the councils and conventions, etc. Although, she has matured in age, she remains youthful at heart, working steadfastly as she keeps a busy lifestyle and praising the Lord. She is very grateful for the support system she has at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. You’re welcome to worship with us at any time. We are located in the heart of Orange Mound; the friendliest church in town; the Holy Ghost Headquarters. Humbly submitted by: Missionary Melody Wilson
